When I completed our series on Tapping Your Inner Resources, I felt that I had explained clearly what we have in our spirits. I also thought it would be clear what we should do with this.

We simply need to tap into those resources and release them outwards. This would then enable us to create whatever we desire in this life.

What The Self-Help Industry Teaches

I realized, however, that for most folks, it was not obvious. Many have been exposed to the teachings of this world and of the self-help industry, and these usually follow a very similar order, which goes something like this.

1. Hold a clear picture in your mind of the thing you want.
2. Start planning and acting as though you already have it.
3. Wait for the Universe to cause this thing to appear for you.
4. In this way, you can manifest whatever you desire.

I remember many years ago, when I was struggling in poverty, I so wished I had a nice car. Someone suggested that I go and get a picture of the car I want and put it up on my wall. Then they said I should look at it every day and speak affirmations that I was going to get that car.

But you see, none of this included the Lord in it. It was all just using your own natural abilities and then waiting on a universal force, which some called God, to make it happen for you.

I tried this to the best of my ability, but it never happened. Somehow, this so-called ‘secret’ seemed to avoid me.

Often, the teachings of the Word of Faith follow a similar pattern, except they add Scripture to it. You find a Scripture, claim it as a promise, and believe God will answer. Until it arrives, you confess your faith over and over and wait for it to happen.

Some eventually get results. But for most of us, this does not work. It certainly did not work for me. That was until the Lord began to show me that there was more involved in this.

Enter The Way of Blessing

This is when I stumbled onto the original teachings of The Way of Blessing. I realized that there were forces in my spirit that needed to be released and that these forces could create the things I desired. I just needed to charge them up and release them via my soul and body into the earth.

For the first time, I began to see some results to my efforts. I learned that there were also times when blockages stopped the power.

I discovered that we can have curses in our lives that block the flow of the power. Often all we needed to do was remove the curses and things would begin to happen.

This was our flagship teaching, and we presented it to the world and the Body of Christ. But somehow nobody showed an interest in this or went through the teaching.

After some years, the Lord told me to revisit this teaching and discover some new things that I had learned. So, I set up a new series entitled Tapping Your Inner Resources, and we presented a new series of teachings that brought all the pieces together.

All of this was laid out clearly in that series, which is now available as a complete publication. So, I am going to quickly repeat some of the main principles from that series. Then, we will go on with some ways of putting all of this into practice. You are going to learn some practical steps to take to make it happen.

Summary of Tapping Your Inner Resources

We have looked in some detail at the resources the Lord has put into our spirits. These included resources that are in the spirits of everyone, including unbelievers.

But we saw that believers have so much more. They have a spirit that has been reborn and made new. And they have received the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to increase the power of their spirits.

It is not enough to learn how to tap into your inner resources. You also need to do something with them once you have tapped them.

All of the resources that are needed are already in your spirit. We taught you how to identify those resources and tap down into them. But what comes now is how to release those forces.

Preparing the Soul

The first thing to do is to prepare the soul for this to take place. I tried to explain this in the Way of Blessing under the topic of creating a template for the soul.

The soul must be prepared and ready to take those resources and release them outwards through the body and into the world. Until this is done, those forces remain dormant within you.

Therefore, your next stage is learning how to transmit those forces from within and releasing them outwards into the world. In simplicity, this can only be done in two different ways. These are the use of both words and actions.

To start with, you need to learn how to use words to create. God made the original creation this way by using words. The principle is pretty simple to understand and we can also do what God did.

It begins with an idea in the mind. There must be a picture or a model of what you want to create. Until you have this, there is no starting point for bringing it into existence.

Identify Exactly What You Desire

So, the first step must always be to identify exactly what you desire. This is a lot more difficult than you may realize. And if I were to ask you to give me a list of all your desires, you would probably have to think about it.

There needs to be a clear picture in your heart of the things you want. And then you need to decide which desires should take priority. If you do not know what you desire, then how can you possibly take your creative power and create that thing?

When God made the worlds, He knew what He wanted to create. He had the picture clearly in His mind before He spoke the first words and said, “Let there be…”

Realize then that you must have a clear picture in your mind of what it is that you desire or truly want. The driving force will always be that desire because when the desire is strong enough, you will find out what it takes to have that desire fulfilled.

Finding the Right Resources

When a person desires something strongly enough, they look for every resource that they have to help fulfill that desire. Suppose that in the natural, there is something you want that is going to cost money. You will begin to search for a way to raise the money to obtain that thing.

This is one of your resources, and you always look at the natural resources first. You may need to have a greater knowledge of the thing that you desire. Perhaps you are involved in actually forming or creating this thing at some stage yourself.

If this is true, then do you hold in your hands what is needed to carry out this task? If you do not have this, then you have to do something about it.

This could drive you to study and learn some new skills. You would practice them and find ways of making the thing you desire to come to pass in your life.

Unfortunately, most of us make the same mistake here. We think that the main resources we need are our intelligence or natural abilities. But they actually live much deeper down in the realm of your spirit.

The starting point, then, is to know what you desire. And the next stage is to accumulate all the resources that you need for that desire to be fulfilled. So, we always have to come back to identifying our main desires.

The greatest of these that stands out above the rest is what we call a core desire. But where do we find this core desire and where is it located?

Probably your best starting point is to look at the three main areas of our lives that are important. These are our wealth, our health, and our relationships.

Start by considering your current status in these three areas. Then consider how you would like to change or improve that status.

There is also a fourth one which features very prominently in those who desire to do something for the Lord. This is the realm of ministry and divine gifts and abilities. So include this as you consider your current status and where you would like to go to from there.

Releasing For Wealth

Wealth usually takes the greatest priority, so you may want to start there. Try to visualize and see where your finances are right now. Then, try to draw a picture of where you would like your finances to be.

This must not be a random picture or one of fantasy because you will never expect that to come about. It must be within the realm of reality and something you believe you could reach. You should be able to set yourself a goal and a desire to bring certain changes in your financial circumstances.

At this point, you do not need to decide what resources you need to obtain this. But there must be a clear picture in your mind of what you desire. What will it look like when it arrives?

To help you get this right, remember that nobody is motivated by money alone. Having tons of money in the bank is not a goal that will drive you. But it will be the kind of life you could live if you had that kind of money.

So, build pictures of your life of wealth, not of financial amounts.

Releasing For Health

You can do something similar concerning the condition of your health. What would you like to change about your current state of health?

If you are young and strong, you perhaps have dreams of doing something physical, and you want a healthy body for that. If you are nearing the end of your lifespan, you are probably more interested in living without pain or discomfort.

You also probably do not want the fear that you could die soon and end this life. So, make clear goals and see the pictures in your mind.

Releasing for Relationships

When it comes to relationships, this will depend on your current marital status or how many friends and contacts you have. Have a clear picture in your mind of what it would look like when this changes.

Do you see yourself happily married and having a purpose in life? Do you see yourself having a wide circle of friends and an active social life?

Releasing for Ministry

How would you like to function in ministry? Which gifts and supernatural abilities do you desire to have?

If you desire to preach or teach, can you see yourself standing behind a pulpit preaching to crowds? Could you see yourself meeting people with problems and ministering to them? Could you see yourself praying for sick folks, and they get healed?

We often think we need to wait for the Lord to make this happen for us. We hope and pray that He would somehow raise us up and anoint us powerfully. But the truth is you are already anointed, and that power lies in your spirit.

So it is not the Lord that is stopping you from stepping out in ministry. It all lies in your hands. Of course, you may need to do some studies to learn how to do it better. These would be your natural resources. But the spiritual resources are already there deep inside you.

Making Clear Goals

You can see that the final results are not going to fall on you. There is something that you must do to make it all happen.

This means you must start by looking at all your desires. Then you must decide which of these desires is strongest and able to keep you going.

You cannot start this in a half-hearted way, but you must make up your mind about where you are going. Then decide to get started, get speaking and doing.

Allow for Stages of Completion

It is unlikely that you will reach your full goal right away. Change is never easy and often we become discouraged along the way.

So you should at least have a starting goal to aim for. Once you reach that, you will be encouraged to push on for more.

The first stage must be reachable and quantifiable. It must not be viewed as something that happened by accident or by good fortune. It must be something that came as a direct result of the actions that you took.

The level you aim for should be within the reach of your faith. You should be able to believe you can reach that. This is important because you are going to use the arm of faith to reach out and receive it.

That is why you must dig deeper than your soul and conscious mind. You must dig deep down into your inner resources. You must learn to hear from your spirit. Then, you will at the same time hear the voice of the Lord speaking through your spirit.

Listen To Your Spirit First

Do not arbitrarily choose an amount or a goal to aim for. Rather, wait on the Lord and tap into your spirit first. One of the best ways of doing this is using journaling and other ways of getting revelation.

I seldom choose a specific amount of money unless I have a specific need. So when I choose to release the power of my spirit to bring in finances, I first reach inwards to decide on an amount. In my mind, I might be thinking of a figure of, say, 1,000 of the currency I need. But when I pray, my spirit tells me to ask for 5,000.

You do not need to feel guilty for being too greedy because you have an assurance in your spirit from the Lord. He wants you to have the larger amount, so create that using your spiritual resources.

If you are earnestly looking for a life partner, do not short-change yourself by being happy to accept anyone who is interested. Wait on the Lord and listen to your spirit to decide what kind of man or woman you desire.

You may be happy with less, or you might secretly desire more but feel that you are being greedy. What does your spirit tell you?

I can tell you from my own experience that God never gives bad gifts. He never gives us just enough, but He always wants us to have the best.

How do you want the Lord to use you in ministry? Do you look at others and envy them and wish the Lord would use you? Do you compare yourself with them and feel you could never attain their level?

I learned long ago that the Lord never limits us. I would watch preachers and speakers who were well-known, and I would think to myself,

“I know that I could preach better than that with the Lord’s help”.

This core desire in me continued to grow until the opportunity came for me to stand up there and preach. And at my very first sermon, my pastor told me he envied me.

The Main Keys

The main activity you must carry out is to tap all of your resources. This includes your outer or natural resources, as well as those deep inside you. Combine these together into a plan of action and then carry it out.

Once you have established your desire, begin to release the power of your spirit to bring about a creation. The first way to do this, which God Himself used, is the utterance of words.

It is not enough for you to make affirmations, although these are very powerful tools. They help to keep you going and motivated toward reaching the goal.

But words fed inwards and outwards produce faith, and they produce hope. These are essential before you can take the third step of releasing through action via love.

Start by identifying what you desire and begin to speak your desire out loud. Then, begin to release the creative forces of your spirit to accomplish the thing that needs to be done.

The Role of Affirmations

Affirmations will help to keep your emotions motivated and keep your soul flowing with this. When you speak words, they produce pictures in your mind. And those pictures, in turn, affect your emotions.

This, then, can be the starting point until the vision becomes so strong that you are ready to see what you desire. You must see it in His hands and see Him standing, ready to give you the thing that you desire.

You must see the answer there with Him in the heavenly realm. This is an indication to you that you have indeed received the thing that you desire in essence. But it must now be brought into reality.

Using the Arm of Faith

In the Way of Blessing, I taught the concept of transmutation from the heavenly realm. I am now replacing that idea with using the arm of faith. This can also include using mantles to focus the spiritual power and to bring about a creation.

All these things involve setting in motion processes that you cannot carry out yet. If you can carry these out yourself already with your natural resources, then you do not need the power of your spirit except to keep you motivated.

This is the big difference between self-help concepts and getting yourself motivated to go out and do what needs to be done. Instead, you will release the power of your spirit to go out and create what you desire.

The next stage does include action, and action is what you must do to accelerate the process. This amplifies the power of the forces that are coming up out of your spirit. This is where a mantle comes into focus. It allows you to focus the power in a specific direction.

The Need for Love

Where action is concerned, your response must come from your spirit and not from your soul alone. This is because the third force of love does not originate in your soul but in your spirit.

You must first tap into your spirit to receive that love and allow it to flow out through you. If you don’t do this, you will not have what you need to release your creative powers into this earth.

So it must always begin with you waiting on Him, and listening to your spirit and to His Spirit speaking deep inside of you. Once you’ve done that, you are now ready, through the correct words and actions, to bring this thing to pass in this world.

Your spirit has released creative power, and God then moves in the earth to make it happen. Part of what He uses to do this is the angels. We will look at that more in the next chapter and see how it happens.

For now, try to understand that you must learn to use all of your resources to fulfill your desires. But your spiritual resources are the more powerful ones. With them, you can create whatever you desire in this life and this world.
