Section 01 - Origins of Sickness and Disease

The Attack on the Body

In my book entitled Foundations of Overcoming Evil, we looked mainly at how Satan and his demons attack us in our spirits and souls, and how we can break from these influences.

What I would like to look at now is how demons are involved in causing sickness and disease in our bodies. And getting rid of this is not really a lot different to dealing with attacks on our spirit and soul.

We will start by looking at a Scripture that not many have fully understood, especially when it is connected with sickness and the attack on our bodies.

[Genesis 3:14-9] says, And the LORD [Yahweh] God said to the serpent, Because you have done this, you [are] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly you will go, and dust you will eat all the days of your life:And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel.
To the woman he said, I will greatly increase your sorrow and your conception; in pain you will bring forth children; and your desire [will be] to your husband, and he will rule over you.

And to Adam he said, Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, you will not eat from it: cursed [is] the ground because of you; in sorrow you will eat [from] it all the days of your life;

Thorns also and thistles it will bring forth to you; and you will eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of your face you will eat bread, until you return to the ground; for out of it you were taken: for dust you [are], and to dust you will return.

Sickness is Everywhere

I would like to begin by discussing the true origins of sickness and disease.

Who does not know what sickness is? Who doesn't know what suffering, pain, illness and all the things that go with it are?

Every one of us at one time or another has suffered or is suffering from something. In fact it has become such a part of our lives that we tend to take it for granted.

We expect it to be there and are not surprised when it comes. It is just a fact of life. It is there. We live with it and we deal with it. We try to overcome it as best we can, and then we press on.

I knew what sickness and disease was from a very young age. When I grew up there were a series of diseases that were known as childhood diseases because children seemed to suffer with them the most.

There was a list there. I do not know if they still have the same kind of list today that they had back there. But on the list were things like measles, mumps, chicken pox, pneumonia, bronchitis and various other ones.

I guess I was a glutton for these sicknesses, because I think I had most of them.

From as far back as I can remember I have memories of being sick, of going with my mother to sit in waiting rooms to go and see the doctor.

I remember having to stop the car so that I could be sick. I can recall lying in bed ill, taking horrible tasting medicines and all sorts of things being rammed down my throat to try and stop me from being sick.

I have memories of sickness and disease from way back. It seemed like my whole life had been one of sickness and disease, things going wrong, pain and suffering.

Medicine is Everywhere

Today medical science is probably one of the major branches of research in the world. And the medical profession is probably the largest profession in the world.

You do not have to look far to see it. You ride down any street in Mexico and they have a pharmacy on every street corner. It doesn't matter if it is a big city or just a small little town.

Even in the little town of Rosarito, Mexico, where we lived for so long, I lost count of the number of pharmacies. We often found new ones that we did not notice before. You just went down one block and you passed three or four of them.

I am sure it is not much different in other countries. Everybody is sick. The medical profession abounds, and it seems that somebody is making a lot of money out of this.

Searching for Answers

If you think about it, what is the key goal of the medical profession and medical science? What is their main thrust and what are they spending millions on all the time?

They are trying to find out what causes sicknesses. They want to study each new kind that comes out. They want to put it under a microscope, do tests on mice and do whatever it takes to find out what causes this sickness and disease.

What makes this disease manifest? They figure if they can find that out then they should be able to solve the problem.

The best they can do is only scratch the surface. They can find out the symptoms and detect a few of the underlying causes before the thing manifests.

But at the end of the day medical science cannot cure. If the body becomes diseased they can cut the diseased piece out and throw it away.

They cannot restore it. And when they describe medication, all they do very often is offer relief from the symptoms. That takes place until healing comes or does not come.

Medicine Cannot Heal

Very often when you are put on medication you are told that there is no cure for this disease. I know all about that one when I came down with rheumatoid arthritis.

I remember the day the specialist physician called me in and said,

"Okay, we've finally settled on which medication we are going to put you on."

They had used me as a guinea pig up until then and tried everything they had. They threw the book at me, then finally, quite by accident, they found something that worked.

He just spoke to me quite openly and blandly, without batting an eyelid and said,

"Les, you are going to be taking these for the rest of your life."

Of course he was wrong, but he did not know better. I am not taking them for the rest of my life because I know more about healing than he did.

Maybe I did not know it at the time but I do now. You see medical science cannot heal. Medical science can only assist the body, but God has made the body to heal itself.

All that medical science can do is to help the body to heal itself. But they cannot cure or heal it.

Why can't they heal? Why can they not take physical things like the chemicals that are in medicines and bring about healing? They try and use things like radiation, and all that does is kill the disease. But it also kills healthy tissue.

Sickness is Not Physical

Those things do not heal, because you see sickness and disease are not physical problems.

You say, "What? Say that one again."

Sickness and disease are not physical problems. They are not caused by physical sources, and therefore they cannot be treated with physical methods.

You cannot heal physical disease with physical instruments, because physical disease is caused by something deeper than the physical. It is caused by something deeper than what you find in the body.

This is what I want to start looking at here. I want to show exactly what causes sickness and disease and where it comes from.

You say, "Well we know where it comes from. We have the streptococci and all the other bacteria and viruses. You have the herpes virus and all sorts of others. These are the things that are causing the disease, right?"

"Are they?"

"Yes, well you know it's the herpes virus that causes colds and flu."

We cannot treat it though because viruses are beyond treatment. We will give you medications to treat the symptoms, and with medication the cold takes a week to clear. If you do not take medication the cold still takes a week to clear.

You see there is no medication to cure it, and there is no cure for the common cold. Medication can only relieve the symptoms so you will feel a little better while you are going through it. Sickness and disease are caused by something far deeper than that
