Dealing With Mental Illness 2

They say that laughter is the best medicine. It takes away all the cares of life. Peace. All the conflicts are gone.

There's no more strife. Love, joy, and peace. There's a few more of them there, but those three are the most important.

And then we have gender problems that also take place. I'm just going to mention this quickly in passing because this is a big subject by itself. As a result of our experiences in life and the way that we were treated by our parents and by other members of the opposite sex as we grow up, we get a corruption that takes place in the soul.

And within the soul there are two poles, which I call the gender poles. The Bible says God created man, male and female created he them. It doesn't say he created him the male and her the female.

God has created everybody, both male and female. So whether you are a man or a woman, you actually have both gender poles in you. And those gender poles are largely created and conditioned firstly by the experiences you have in the home.

And your mother's helped to generate the one pole and your father the other. And any failure in either of them can cause a corruption in one of those poles. Now those poles should stand straight and equal in a normal person.

Yes, in the male, the masculine side is dominant and will reach across to the woman who has the feminine dominant. And so there comes an attraction between male and female. But if those poles are affected and corrupted, your responses begin to change.

When the poles start to go like this and point towards each other, you start to get confused about whether you're male or female. And you begin to wonder what gender you are. In the world today, they're actually encouraging that and allowing a child to choose what gender it wants to be.

The poles begin to point to each other like that, you eventually come to a place where you're actually attracted to both males and females, and you become bigender, bisexual. If they eventually reach a total crossover, you become fully homosexual and caught in the gay lifestyle. Now there's many stages in between, and there's also sometimes different corruptions that take place.

Okay, it's a big subject. These are the things that take place in you that affect your response to your own gender, how you see yourself, and how you respond to the other genders around you. Your parents were responsible to build into you two essential elements in life, the ability to feel accepted, and the ability to feel recognized.

Now, acceptance is the role of the mother. And it's the mother's role to help a child know who they are and to know that they're accepted. Recognition is the role of the father, and his role is to show the child that he recognizes them and to help focus them in life.

Now, sometimes in the home, there comes a reversal of roles, where instead of the man being the man, he becomes Mr. Mom. Instead of the woman being the woman, she becomes Mr. Dad, or Mrs. Dad. Happens very often.

Now, when that happens, you have a problem as a child growing up, because the one who is meant to be giving you acceptance is the other person. So, you go to your dad for acceptance now, because he's the nice guy who treats you like a mother should. You go to your mom to be recognized, because she's acting like a man.

And that actually causes such a confusion that eventually you don't know how to handle acceptance and recognition, and you have a major problem with acceptance and recognition. There comes a confusion between those two. And then there's the third one.

The Lord shows me these in the Spirit that say I know them. I see the gender as two poles like that. I see two ropes hanging like that, which are the acceptance and recognition.

And then the third one is how you view your own genders, and whether you've rejected one aspect. Have you decided as a woman to become dominantly masculine? Have you rejected your femininity? Have you as a man rejected your masculinity and instead overdeveloped your feminine side? Now, I first thought in the Spirit I saw what looked like a two-headed monster. And the one head was really huge, and the other one was tiny.

And the Lord showed me that these two should be the same, but sometimes we overdevelop our one gender, and it produces an imbalance in us. Three different things that all affect our gender and the way we view ourselves in our gender and the way we respond to other people, and you won't believe how many areas of life that affects, not just the sexual side. Well, I've never heard any psychologist teach on this.

They haven't even come close to identifying, but you know what? God has a solution for these things, and that's the wonderful thing. It's not hopeless. I don't care what's happened to you.

I don't care how you responded to these things in life. It can get fixed, and the Lord's going to fix it, and we must get on now to the healing of the soul. Now, humanly speaking, we tend to respond to the problems in different ways.

One of the ways we like to do it is we find somebody who we think is a model of what we'd like to be, and we try to imitate them, and very often we're doing that to gain acceptance. If I act like this person, they will accept me. Some of us, we want to maintain our individuality and prove to the world that we're different.

I'm not going to be like everybody else, and sometimes we do that on purpose to draw attention to ourselves and to gain recognition. See, all of those things come as a result of those deep needs not having been met. They all come as a response to our experiences in life, and they're both wrong because only one person is our standard, and his name is Jesus, and he's the model.

If we're going to imitate anybody, we should be imitating him. He's the one who actually can be our father and our mother. He's the one who can fix all of these things that are wrong in us, and so internally, God's solution is the fruit of the Spirit, and if you as a believer have been born again, you have the Spirit of God living inside of you, and you can walk in the Spirit.

We did a whole seminar called the School of Blessing in which we explained this in some detail, some things that you can do to fix the hurts you've had along the way, and one of the first is a process called forgiveness. But you don't know what they did to me. Scripture says, as God in Christ forgave you, so forgive on another.

If you're still holding that anger and that bitterness in your heart, you will never be set free in your soul. I don't feel like forgiving them. The Lord didn't tell you to feel like forgiving.

He gave it as a command. He said you must do it as an act, as a choice. Instead of complaining about your lot in life and desiring things you don't have, why don't you develop an attitude of gratitude? It helps us to deal with the temporal.

Forgiveness helps us to deal with bitterness. You see, we're dealing with the roots, and then generosity and giving, instead of dominating and controlling, can even help you overcome sexual problems. Forgiveness, gratitude, and generosity.

Try developing those things in your life, and you'll be amazed how you start to be set free of all the hang-ups that you've had through the years. And then we have a process, a supernatural process, where the Spirit of God miraculously will reach in and fix what is wrong, and that is a healing. We've got a whole course just on that, transformed by His presence.

Now what needs healing? What needs healing is your memories. Remember I said to you, what gets locked into your memory is not only the event, but everything you felt. Now we can't forget what happened, because it's there.

Once the picture's in your mind, you can't get it out. But if we could take out the negative part, the pain of the emotion, and leave the memory intact, then we can go back to that memory any time, it doesn't worry us anymore. If you can overcome the fear that you had when you had that experience, you could go back to that memory any time in the future and not be afraid anymore.

Now you can't do that by an act of your will. You can't do it by lying on a psychiatrist's couch and spilling your guts. But the Holy Spirit can come upon you and can move within you, and when Jesus walks by your side and walks back with you in those memories of the past, He will miraculously take out all the negative emotions.

How does He do that? I don't know how He does it any more than when He heals a body, but it's just as miraculous. You'll be set free just like that. A hang-up that you've had all your life will be gone in seconds, just like that.

He's able to do that by the ministry of any healing. And once you've learned to receive that, perhaps you'll have such a compassion for others who are struggling with the same thing, that you may make yourself available to the Lord and say, Lord, I want you to use me in this ministry as well. You see, the ministry of healing of the soul is just as powerful and just as miraculous.

He's out of the body. You don't think of any healing will allow you to speak to those confused gender poles and straighten them. Convert a gay person into a straight person instantly.

God has that power and it's been done. We just don't do it because we don't think it's possible, because we've been psychologically programmed to think you're mentally ill. God has a solution to every one of these problems in your life.

If you'll just bring Jesus and his presence into your past, if you'll take a walk with him through that memory, stand in agreement with somebody who's anointed by the Spirit of God, God can set you free. You don't always have to have somebody to pray with you. You can do a lot of this all by yourself.

Just go back and say, I don't want to face that memory again. It was too painful. It was too frightening.

That's why you take Jesus with you. Because you're going to face it again as the child that you were. But now you're not a child.

You've got daddy's hands. He's there to protect you. When you face that thing, it's like reliving that experience all over again without the bad part.

It works, folks. I didn't believe it worked. One time I preached against this.

I thought it was psychological mumbo-jumbo. One day somebody prayed with me who didn't know himself what he was doing. It was just flowing a bit prophetically, long before the high days I did.

He said, Les, something happened there. He said, I don't know what it was. He said, but the Lord said to me, he took a weakness out of you and put a strength back in its place.

I said, wow, what are you talking about? I discovered shortly afterwards that a hang-up that I'd had for years was gone, instantly. I'd studied to try and get rid of it. I'd gone through the psychology.

Couldn't overcome it. Instantly, God delivered me. I can do the same for you.

True believers, they can and should walk in divine health, both in their bodies and in their souls. Now, all of these things are dependent on your spirit. Your spirit is very important because whatever God gives you, he's going to give you through the human spirit.

Your soul should be receiving from the spirit, and as the control tower, should then be bringing the body in order and communicating it outwards to the body. Now, we've learned how to deal with the body to keep it healthy. We've looked now at some of how to deal with the soul to keep it healthy.

Next time, our final teaching in this will be how to tap into and develop the power of your spirit, how to deal with the contaminations and the illnesses of the spirit. I thought you said the spirit couldn't become ill. There are things that can happen to your spirit that can prevent it from having the power that it should.

The scripture says, keep your heart with all diligence because out of it flow all the sources of life. Your healing actually comes from your spirit. A lot of the time, the reason you're not getting the healing is because your spirit's blocked.

Your spirit has been locked in a shell. Your spirit has become incapable of flowing out and releasing that power that you need. So, we'll end this whole series that we've been doing now and looking at the spirit, and we'll see how we can now finally rise up and live the kind of life that Jesus intended for us, to live the abundant life, to live a life of wellness and wholeness and abundance and happiness and joy and everything that the Lord has for us.

I hope after this, you have a little bit of a better understanding of mental illness, the big subjects, as I said. We can cover all of those in a lot more detail if you want to learn more, and we will be, and we have already some of them. But for now, I just want you to have that clear picture.

Let's rise up now. Let's overcome. Let's cast off these chains that abound us for so long and walk in the freedom that the Lord has for us.

Amen. Thank you, Father, for your word. Thank you, Lord, for each person that has heard this message now.

I ask you, Lord, just to reach in now and to just touch by your spirit. Oh, you see the contaminations, Lord. You see the hurts.

You see the confusions. You see the rebellions. You see that whole concoction, that whole mixture and mess that's being created by this world and by the God of this world as he's put your children through so many difficult times, Lord.

But you're not going to leave us there. You're going to pull us out, Lord. You're not going to leave us in bondage.

You're going to set us free. You're not going to leave us sick. You're going to make us well.

Thank you for that now, Lord. I ask you by your spirit to do what you only can do. Lord, I ask you to take this word that I've shared, that you'll make it real to those who've heard it and watched it, that you'll quicken the truths to them, that you'll challenge them to press in and to lay hold of the solutions that you have for us to rise up and live this magnificent life, the spiritual life that you called us to, Lord.

Now, thank you for that now in Jesus' name.
