And so very often we found that in dreams and in visions where you see a house in your dream, that can usually be interpreted to speak of your life. Now perhaps you dream about the house you grew up in, that perhaps you spent many years in, or you spent your childhood in, or any other significant house that you've been in in the past. And when those appear in your dreams, they very often are giving you a picture of what your life was like, or something that originated in your life at that time.
Okay, but tonight I'm not speaking about dream interpretation. What I want to emphasize to you is that a house is a picture. And so tonight I'm going to take that picture, that allegory, and I'm going to expand it.
And my whole message is going to be taking the allegory of a house or a home and giving some spiritual truth from it. Okay, now what gave me the idea of doing this is I had a dream last night, which I have a lot of dreams, and I'm sure you do have a lot of dreams of junk sometimes, but this was a strange dream. I dreamt that I was sitting looking down on a computer screen.
Well, that's not unusual, is it? Because I spend all day on computer screens. But on the screen was a program like these ones that you use to design or to draw. But the idea was it was a program to design the layout of a home.
And so you could see you had the ability in this program to drag and place in the square that represents the house. Okay, that's going to be a room. That's going to be this room.
That's going to be that. And so you could add various different things. And so as it were, design a sketch of what a home would look like on the computer.
And then as I looked at that, my dream shifted to me and my life, and what I was actually experiencing at the moment. And in my dream, I felt I've just experienced something that is going to change what my house should look like. I need another room in my house.
And so I came to the computer program and I brought in and I put another room. And then I went back and I experienced something new. And again, I came and interpreted my experience back into the structure and the design of my home.
And I thought that was an interesting dream. And when I woke up and I thought about it, I felt that the Lord was giving a picture here that we need to look at our lives, not in a fixed state. You know, if you move into a home that's been designed by somebody else, you have to adapt your life and your way of living to what's in that home.
See, and very often what we do in our spiritual lives is we adapt our spiritual lives and the things that we believe to what other people have already said. We believe the doctrines that we heard preached as we grew up. We act according to what people have showed us and modeled us.
And very often we are living what somebody else has designed for us. And it was actually what the Lord was saying is, I want you to design your life according to the unique things that I take you through and that I teach you. And so from that point of view, everybody's home should look different.
Okay. Therefore, everybody's life should look different. We shouldn't be squeezing people into one particular mold.
Okay. So tonight I'm going to describe things that are in most homes, but isn't necessarily what your home looks like. And the same thing applies to your life.
These things may be in your life and they may not. And you may think, well, I've never experienced that yet. The time will come when I need to add that or I need to change that because it's not good enough anymore.
Do you understand? So with that concept in mind, I want to go ahead and look firstly at your dream house. What is your dream house? You know, every one of us would love to have the kind of house that we dream of. Very few of us ever get the opportunity to live in our dream house.
But tonight I'm going to allow you to fantasize a little bit and think of what you would like to have in your dream house, because we are going to then interpret that as what you can have in your dream life, which is what's more important, isn't it? Okay. So the first thing you need to do when you get a house is you need to get the house that you need. And now your needs will change over time.
If you're a couple, you're quite happy maybe with a little flat or apartment or just a tiny little home. Maybe you're planning to have a family and so you basically just need a main bedroom and maybe a nursery for the baby or something like that. You don't need anything huge, just something functional, okay? But over time things change.
The family grows, you have more kids. That little home is no longer suitable for you anymore. You can't change it.
It was pre-made, pre-designed, unless you own it and you're able to expand it, okay? Now life's experiences bring new needs. The question that you need to ask yourself is this. Can your house be changed? Did you allow for extra rooms? Did you allow for expansion of the existing rooms? From a house point of view, that's not so easy.
But when we start looking at it spiritually, we have to take these things into account. So firstly, you get the home that you need. And after you've lived for a while in the home that you need, you begin to realize this home is functional.
It meets my needs, but it's not really what I desire. I desire something more. And so your desires begin to expand your vision of what your home should look like.
Now you realize we need some extra rooms with some extra activities that we want to carry out. We need a family room where we can just get together with the family. We need a study or a prayer room that's set apart.
We need a game room. And how many people have got a game room in their house? We were blessed when we lived in Mexico. We were in a large house that had built in downstairs a squash court.
He ever lived in a house that had his own squash court? We actually did. It was awesome. We could go downstairs and play squash anytime.
And we lived in the top level, so it didn't affect anything. We had a great big meeting hall down there that we could have meetings in. And where we preached many of the teachings that we still use today.
Perhaps you want a gym room for exercise. If you're into exercise, whether it be running on the treadmill, lifting weights, doing aerobics and all sorts of other things, you need a place set apart just for that. That's a dream house.
I want my own gym room. I know all you gym and exercise fanatics, that's probably quite high on your list. You know we can do without some of the other rooms like the bedroom and the kitchen, but we need a gym room, you know.
Some people are paranoid, I'm not. But hey, this is your dream of mine. And then you may want a home office.
Well for us a home office is a fixture, because we do our ministry from home, have done so for years. These days many people have had to start taking a room in their house and converting it into a home office as a result of the pandemic that's been going on worldwide, where many people have to now live from home. And of course many people have had a problem with that, with kids running in in the middle of while they're having a business conversation with other people online, and there's been some real weird and funny events that have taken place.
But if you have your own home office where you can shut the door and be alone, there's a room that's set apart just for that. And so you may want some extra specialized rooms in your dream house. And then maybe you want bigger rooms.
Bigger rooms. You know a room is fine until you put in it everything that you use, and then you realize I'd like to add something more to this room and I can't fit it in. Is there room for expansion? Can we knock down that wall and make this room bigger? Okay it's going to cost a bit of money, it's going to cost a lot of construction, but is it possible? Does my house allow for that? See if you want to fulfill your dream house you need to think ahead.
Either you must get the house now that has the big rooms, or you must buy a house that you know can be changed later to accommodate some of those new experiences and new things that you're going to have in life. And so as you think about your dream house now, I want you to think about your dream life. And perhaps you can't fully comprehend the allegory yet, but you're going to shortly, because I'm going to go through a typical house, or maybe not so typical house, but I would say my kind of dream house perhaps.
And I'm going to go through each one of the rooms, and I'm going to have a look at what we do and what we put in those rooms. And I want you then to be able to see some of the desires that you perhaps have, or have never been able to fulfill, or would like to fulfill. And then we're going to see how these integrate automatically with our life, our life in general, and then especially our spiritual lives.
So how do you use the rooms in your house? Well here's what happens most of the time when you get a house. You start with an empty house. All the rooms are empty.
There's nothing in them. Even the windows are bare without curtains. Now for most of us these days, when we move house, we've already got a whole lot of stuff that we've accumulated in the previous house, and all we do is we move our stuff from the old house into the new.
But what happens if you're starting out for the first time? So now we experience that very practically all over again when we return from Mexico with just two suitcases as our possession. And somebody kindly arranged for a beautiful house for us to be in. It was fairly spacious.
It had all the rooms that we need. It was wonderful. We walked into the empty house with our suitcases.
What are we going to do? Where are we going to sleep tonight? There's no beds. What are we going to do to cover the windows so people can't see in while we get dressed? What are we going to cook our food with? What are we going to eat with? There are so many things that you need to take into account. So you need to get the essentials first.
And you know you don't realize how essential some things are until you don't have them. You're in the kitchen and you need a utensil and you know in the past you could just go to the drawer and take it out, but you haven't bought one of those yet. So what do we do now? It's not a nice experience, and most of you probably have forgotten what that's like, but we learned that firsthand moving into this new house with nothing in it.
It took us a while to build up all the essentials. Once we got the essentials, then we started to get the luxury items and the non-essentials and the extra things that make life more comfortable. But what are the essentials? I want you to think about what is essential in your life.
What is it that you cannot live without? What is it that is lacking right now? Those are the things you should be concentrating on first. The things that make it possible for you just to live a normal life. Let's look at the rooms.
The bedroom. Oh what is the bedroom? The bedroom speaks of times of rest and relaxation. When I think of my bedroom, I don't think of rest and relaxation entirely because I have an office in my bedroom, but that's beside the point.
Let's think of the bedroom for what it's supposed to be. I've learned to distinguish my bed from my office, you see. So when I'm in bed, I'm resting.
Unless at night I want to do something, then I grab my laptop and I sit in bed and I work. Bad practice. The bedroom is a place for rest, not for work.
Life consists of more than work. You drivers, listen to me. Life consists of more than work.
You need time in life to unwind. The bedroom is a picture of that out of your life. It is a time and in the natural we need that every day.
In fact, you'll probably spend as much time sleeping as what you do work. That's how important it is. Are you giving equivalent time in the things that you do, in your ministry activities that you work so hard? Are you taking equal time to relax and let go and unwind? That's what the bedroom speaks of.
In the bedroom there needs to be a bed. Oh, there's nothing worse than going into a room and sleeping on the floor as we first had to do when we arrived. We found a cheap alternative.
We bought these little blow up mattresses which kind of made the ground a bit softer but certainly weren't the most comfortable. You had to get all the way down and when you woke up you had to get all the way up which is not so easy when you start to put on a bit of weight, is it? You'd be surprised whatever it is to get up from lying flat. It's not nice.
You're on a bed where you can just sit this far and you're on it. So the bed is a very important part of the bedroom. Why? Firstly because you need to have enough sleep and if you're not sleeping in a comfortable environment your sleep is going to be restless.
Now sleep is a time of letting go of the stresses of daily life and that is why during our sleep we dream and our dreams are our ways of letting out all the stresses and the pressures that took place. If you don't sleep long enough you don't get to that kind of dreaming which lets go of that stresses. So your bedroom should be comfortable and in the spiritual your time of relaxation shouldn't be a time of sitting doing nothing because that can be boring.
It should be a time when you can truly let go and relax and put your mind on something else and then the bedroom has a very other very important function because the bed is the place of intimacy. It doesn't have to take place in the bed but most of the time it does. In a marriage the bed is the place of intimacy and intimacy is a vital part a very vital part of a marriage relationship.
It goes beyond just chilling out. It includes pleasure. It includes a release.
It includes so many different things that go with it. Without intimacy in your life you will find that you never can truly feel complete and whole. Now spiritually what does that speak about? It speaks about intimacy with the Lord Jesus.
Coming into that place into the love-making bed as it were with the Lord Jesus. You need time every day. You have spiritual intercourse with your Lord and Savior and spiritual intercourse goes so much deeper than physical intercourse and it does some amazing powerful things to you as a person and to the spiritual life and to your power and to your ability to serve the Lord.
Don't ever get so busy that you don't have that time to be alone with him and we'll look at it further as we get to some of the other rooms. Then we look at the family room. What is the family room? I would say the family room is kind of a new innovation.
When I grew up we didn't really have that and in many small houses they don't have sufficient rooms for you to set aside a room just to be a family room but a family room is a place to have fellowship. It's a place where you can develop social interaction with other members of the family. It's a place where you can listen, where you can love and you can care.
A place where you let go of all the other activities that you're doing and give time to somebody else and enjoy the presence of somebody else. It's a place to let down your hair and have some fun. You know the old saying, all work and no play makes Jack or Jane a dull boy or girl.
You need the time to play. You need a time to laugh and have fun and be stupid and not care what anybody thinks. Just to be yourself.
Sometimes even to act childish. What the hell. You know children have fun naturally.
We become too adults. We've forgotten how to have fun. We've forgotten how to relax and chill out and just do silly things just for the sake of doing them.
Just to let all our tensions out and to enjoy life. Have you got time for fun in your life? Yes well you know I do have my social activities that I get involved in and where does the Lord fit into it? Can you take him with you? Sometimes we get so spiritual that we can't have fun with the Lord. We've got to go have fun with the world.
We're going to leave the Lord outside while we go have fun with the world. It's time Christians learn to have fun with each other in the presence of the Lord. Because you know what? He's not such a serious God that he can't have fun.
You need to see a Jesus who likes to play. Jesus could handle the children and they came right into him. He wasn't so serious and austere like they often picture him in the movies.
Perhaps in your family room you have some games to play. Perhaps if you can afford it and the room's big enough you can have a pool table or a table tennis table. A place where you can compete with one another in friendly competition.
I always liked to be the champion on the table tennis until somebody came in that was better than me. Then we sold the table tennis table. What is it that you need to do to have fun? Make a room for it.
Make room for it in your life folks. Because we need it and we come to the kitchen. This is the part I like.
The kitchen is the place to create good food. Oh I love cooking. You say you like eating.
Okay I like eating too. I like cooking and making the kind of food I'd like to eat. Okay so we need a few things in our kitchen.
We need a stove to cook on. Usually we need a microwave to heat things up. I know some people say microwaves are unhealthy and they're bad for you.
You know what? I couldn't live without a microwave. We just bought a new one because the old one was back in it. You need pots and pans to cook.
Let's just eat out all the time. You don't need a kitchen do you? And then you need an electric frying pan, air fryers, other gadgets. No you don't need them but man they're such fun.
They're such fun. You know every time we go shopping and I see a new gadget the members of my family are saying dad where are we gonna put it? Where are we gonna? I don't care where we put it. We can stick them on the table but you know it's such fun to have all these gadgets.
Hey you know what? If you're a cook you need good tools to cook better. Just leave your cook alone and let him have some fun with his gadgets. See what's important to you in your life? What's important? See you will find money and make time for the things that are important to you.
And you know what another person may consider important? You may consider a waste of time. Don't stand in judgment over them. Just find your own things that satisfy and make life exciting for you.
See when it comes to ministry you're the cook. You've got to prepare meals to feed to other people. See if you want to just stand preaching boring.
If you like to say thus saith the Lord and yea and hath and all the old English is in the in a King James version like so many preachers do. Go for it but the younger generation don't know what you're talking about. See you're there to make a good meal to feed the people.
You need a pantry to store the food in. You should always have a store of food. You should always be ready with something to share.
If you meet people and they have a spiritual need. Where's your store? How big's your pantry? Where's your store of food? You can say oh I've got something that that you would enjoy. I've got something that you need right now.
I can feed you. How full is your life? How full is your pantry? Well I don't have time to sit and read books. That's pitiful.
Normally I have time to watch movies I'm sure. We don't have time to build up resources that you can give out to others. You see see the kitchen is more than just cooking.
It includes the pantry and there's got to be a fridge in there to keep things fresh because nobody wants to eat stale food. Some people are preaching what they learned 20 years ago in Bible school. It's stale food.
What did you learn today in the word that you can share with the next people person you meet? What fresh revelation do you have from the Lord that you can give out? What's in your pantry? Bread that's gone blue and stale. You know we found we like we like to buy sometimes these packets of dried goods but if you're not careful and you don't seal them properly you get weevils coming in them and the next time you want to use it you've got to throw it away because it's full of weevils. See is your spiritual knowledge full of weevils? It's stale.
You know why? Because you haven't used it in ages. You've hidden it away there. You should be tapping your inner resources and pouring out all the time.
Come on be a good cook. Yeah well we'll have our usual meal for tonight as an expression they use in Afrikaans. Rice, meat and potatoes.
Standard diet. Boring. Boring.
You know maybe the the reason nobody wants to hang around with you is because you're just boring. No because you've got nothing new to share. The same old same old.
You tell the same old stories. Come on fill yourself with something new. Stock up that pantry in that fridge.
You know we have we got three fridges already and a deep freeze because there's so much stuff that we want to keep that's fresh that needs to remain fresh because we like to eat healthy you see. So we want lots of fridge space with fresh stuff in. Come on what's your storage look like? What's your kitchen look like? What kind of utensils are you cooking the food in? Old pans that are scratched and dirty and rusty.
You should be updating. Becoming more efficient all the time. Building up resources.
See this is a vibrant active life. Not a life that's just living until it comes to an end or maybe until Jesus comes one of these days. Now some kitchens they have a table in.
I grew up with the kitchen table. You know the kitchen table used to be a tradition in the old days. You'd be amazed what you could do with the kitchen table.
You could sit there with your computer. You could do work. You could do your homework at the kitchen table.
I don't know maybe maybe probably because the dining room table was out of bounds. The kitchen table was always just a makeshift table that you could go and do things on. These days there's no space for a table in the kitchen anymore.
If you're blessed to have a kitchen with a table in you are exceptionally blessed. Enjoy it while you have it. Some kitchens even have space for a bar.
A place with these bar stools and like a counter where people can sit and and maybe have a drink and fellowship together. Does your kitchen have a bar? I'm talking about alcohol. I'm just talking about a bar where you can sit and share and drink.
You can sit and chat while they cook. Kitchen's a lovely place to have fellowship. In fact food is one of the best places to have fellowship but we'll get to that when we get to the dining room.
Okay what's your spiritual kitchen look like? Are you still eating junk food? Are you bored with the same old meals? It's time to come up with some creative ideas. Bring it to life. Okay let's get to the dining room.
The dining room is a place to enjoy food and people. Now there are some strange old traditions that go with the dining room. I grew up under an old-fashioned really foolish concept that said at the dining room table children are to be seen and not heard.
You are here to eat not to talk. Have you been brought up under that? Sometimes my dad would take out the belt and put it next to me say okay the next one who speaks is going to get a smack. Eat your food and we had exciting meal time.
Can you pass me the salt please? Boring. Boring. You know what Jesus did most of his ministry at dinner tables.
Do you know what kind of ministry can take place at the dining room table? The dining room table is a place to share your heart with one another while eating. It's a place to share your aspirations and your desires and your experiences and you need a nice big dining room table so you can all sit around and and fellowship with one another and interact with one another. How much time do you have in your spiritual life? You just have a spiritual meal.
Oh what does this speak of? It speaks of having time till we just get around and share the word together and as we feed on the word we share our hearts with one another. You know it's a family time that takes place in the Lord. The dining room table you know it's not just a time that man I'm starved let's go eat.
Okay I'm going. Boring. You know I love to sit at the dining room table for a while.
There are those who are paranoid about cleaning the plates and the pots and the pans and they can't wait for you to finish your food and they're snatching the plate out so they can go and wash it. Well that's good that you wash the plates after you've eaten. Sometimes we can get into the habit of leaving it until the next meal or the next day and we run out of cutlery and crockery for the next meal which is not a good practice but you know what I would rather we spent an extra half an hour or more after we finished eating just sharing at the table sharing our hearts and fellowshipping.
To me that's more important than clearing the table and washing the dishes and doing everything else. See what is your attitude towards this whole thing? You know some people they serve the Lord this way. Let's go to church, receive the ministry of the word and we go home again.
Well you know why don't we just sit and have a chat after church. You know some of the best churches I've been to is they they have a meal after the church where everybody sits in and and eats together and shares with one another. See our spiritual lives they must be full with good sense not just pressure, not just hard work, not just striving, not just pushing, pushing, pushing.
Comes a time where we need to enjoy what God has created for us and we need to enjoy one another as believers. We've got a rat race out there all the time. Don't bring the rat race home.
Don't bring it to church. Don't let it dominate your life. You know I grew up in a home where we had a family altar.
A time where we could get together children and parents and just come to the Lord in prayer together. Maybe share a short scripture but not necessarily. Just a time of praying together.
Maybe at the start of the day and at night before going to bed. It's important that we communicate with one another on a horizontal and with the Lord on the vertical. Now you're going to have to make time in your life to do that.
It's not going to happen automatically. The kind of life that we live today we aren't even get to meet one another. But you know we've got so many great possibilities online now.
We have chat rooms. We have social media. We have so many things.
How much time do we take to fellowship with one another and how much time do we take to fellowship with the Lord? Let's come to the lounge. Now a lot of people use the lounge for many things. It's the only room they have.
Lounge becomes a family room. Sometimes we even eat in the lounge while watching a movie or something like that. I'd like to think of the lounge as standing on its own.
A lounge is the place for visiting. A lounge can be a great place to have a home meeting where you can invite some folks over to sit and share the word together and fellowship together. To me the lounge can be very practical.
It can be used for ministry. It can be used for personal ministry where somebody needs some personal prayer or counsel. You invite them into your lounge.
It's a comfortable environment. You can share with them, counsel them, pray with them, whatever it takes. It's a nice atmosphere in the lounge for that.
The lounge is a place that can be used for instruction where you can instruct the members of your family, where you can share the word. It can be a very nice time that has a sense of relaxation to it but at the same time a sense of accomplishment and activity. Here we come to a room that we don't normally like to talk about much and that's the bathroom and the toilet.
Some people are obsessed with bathrooms and toilets. One of my daughters, when she was younger, we went to visit people. The first place she went to go look at was the toilet.
I don't know why. She was obsessed with toilets. We come and say they have a very nice toilet.
I didn't want to know that but the bathroom and toilet are very important. Why? Because they're a place of cleansing. The bathroom is a place where you cleanse away the dirt that you've accumulated on your body.
It's a place where you clean away the dirt that you've accumulated in your mouth, in your teeth, in any other parts, personal hygiene. In the bathroom, usually most houses have the toilet in the bathroom but it doesn't have to be. I'm lumping the two together and that's where you get rid of wastes and actually you need to do that quite frequently.
What does this speak of spiritually? You know that every day we pick up spiritual contamination from the people that we meet and that we bump into. These days with the pandemic everybody's rushing home to wash their hands in case we picked up some virus along the way but we don't think about how deadly the virus of sin is and the contaminations we often get as we interact with people in the world. We should daily, as you've gotten to the habit now of washing your hands, think about daily coming to a place of purging and cleansing away the contamination of sin in your life.
The scripture speaks about us laying aside the weights and the sin that so easily besets us. We don't have time to think about the sin. We consume poisonous things into our hearts from what we receive, what we hear, what we see.
The bathroom and toilet are very important for you spiritually. There should be a daily time of cleansing, a daily time of coming into his presence to clear your hearts, to receive fresh cleansing, washing in the blood of the lamb, to take away all the contamination because these things begin to build up, begin to build up. Your spiritual life begins to weaken and you can't understand why.
It's like getting spiritually constipated. Your body starts to seize up. Get rid of the junk.
Make time for it. Now here's a room most people don't have. I call it the discipline room.
You know in the old days they had the woodshed, you know. The stories say Johnny's mom took him to the woodshed and gave him a good smack. Place of discipline.
Well it's not in vogue anymore that is it. We don't like discipline but you know what the scripture says that the Lord still disciplines us because he loves us because we are his true children. There needs to be a time of discipline.
Now the scripture says that we would learn to discipline ourselves. The Lord won't need to discipline us but when he does discipline us he does it for our own good and we will not be condemned with the world and face all their judgments. Sometimes the time of fasting and prayer and a prayer of penitence and repentance can do wonders in your spiritual life.
If you've been facing difficulties, things going wrong, somehow it feels like the Lord's not there anymore. Your prayers don't seem to get answered. You're struggling.
Your mind is confused. It might just be that sin has come in. You need a time of looking at your heart and yourself and saying I need to get rid of this.
I've allowed things into my heart that should not be there. I've given my ascent to what the world is doing and I've condoned it and even started to practice it myself. It's going to affect your life folks.
Here's the most important room in the house, the prayer or meditation room. This is the place where only two people go, Jesus and you, just you and him. It's a place to speak to him and a place to listen and hear what he has to say.
It's also a place for spiritual warfare. I'm sure most of you have seen that popular film The War Room where they really depicted this so well of setting aside a room to do your spiritual warfare. Now I'm not going to ask you if you are in your prayer room today.
I'm going to ask you what is the last time you even thought of going into the prayer room? For some of you I'd like to say do you have a prayer room or do you remember where the prayer room is in the house? But you know what? Some people have never put a foot into that room. The last time they did was so long ago they forgot it was even there. Folks this is the most important room of all.
Are you taking the time daily to be in his presence? You say well I don't have the time. How much time do you need to talk to somebody? How long does it take to say hi, good to see you, how you doing, love you? How long does it take to come into his presence and just connect with him? Some people feel they've got to pray for an hour. We're going to pray through you know.
We start down at the bottom here and we fight. Look I know the prophets have something different so please prophets is not for you. It's not for you okay.
I'm speaking about ordinary Christians yeah. You don't need to pray for an hour to get through to the heavenly realm. I remember hearing a preacher say once he got there and he said he was going to storm the gates of heaven and he got in there to pray fervently storming the gates of heaven and in the middle of it he heard the lord say um son why don't you come on in the gates are open, the gates are open.
Just walk in to his presence. He's actually waiting there. He's waiting there for you every day and you're sometimes in our rushing around.
We walk right past the door of that prayer room and there's jesus sitting patiently waiting for his daily time with you and you walk right past to say oh lord oh sorry lord I don't have time today. I'm running late. I've got to be at work.
I've got things to do and you know he never once condemns you. He never once speaks out and says hey you've forgotten me. No in his tender love he sits and he waits there patiently until you take the time to walk in.
When you walk in he's there immediately to be there for you to help you. You know if we spent more time in our prayer room we'd have more energy to do so many other things. In this life, what does your life look like right now? Are you satisfied with what you have? Are you ready to face change? Now where can you see yourself as you look into the future? I'd like to ask you this.
Are you comfortable inviting people to your home? Are you comfortable inviting them into your life? Are you ashamed of what they'll see? Is your life portraying something which continually invites people to serve the lord better? As they look at your home do they get inspired to say I want a home like that also? Please will you help me to make my home like yours? Is that the kind of life that you are demonstrating? You know if you want to see a person's life sometimes just visit them in their home. You'd be surprised how strong this allegory is. What you see a person do in their home is usually a very strong reflection of what you'll see in their life.
If you look at your home right now and you know, especially after what I've shared tonight, you know there's some areas that are lacking. The only question you need to ask and answer right now, what can you start working on right now? It's not going to happen overnight. We started with an empty house, we got the essentials and then we got more and then we got more and we grew and we expanded.
It's not going to happen overnight but you must start somewhere. You must build day by day and build a life that is awesome, that's wonderful, that's exciting, that's powerful, that's influential. A life that's worth living.
You've come to the place where you say life is so miserable, I wish the Lord would just come. Oh I can't wait to retire and just let go. I think you need a new home.
I think it's time to move house. I think it's time to renovate. The time comes for you to leave this world.
There should be no hurry at all. It should be a time of satisfaction that I've accomplished all that I I lived the kind of life that God wanted me to live. I lived a life to the fullness.
I lived a life where I accomplished and experienced everything I dreamed of and desired. Think about your dream home. Start building it now.
Think about your dream life and start building it now. Father I thank you for your word. Pray that you will take it.
You challenge your people. You'll create desire in them. You'll stir them up.
Lord that each one will aspire so much more. So much more because you have so much more for us Lord. Now I know some of you are looking at something natural and you're saying I would love to have those homes but I just cannot afford it.
You don't have to have all those rooms in your house folks but you can have the same activities even if you're living in a one-room house. The rooms are just a picture that I try to illustrate for you and if God has blessed you that you can have such a house with so many different rooms well that's wonderful and we praise the Lord for it. Most of us have not reached there yet.
Some of us may never reach it in this life and it certainly is an aspiration and I believe God wants you to have the best but don't zero in on that. I learned a long time ago that when I'm alone with Jesus in a room it doesn't make me to have anything in the room. We don't need any furniture.
We don't need any chairs. We don't need a carpet. Just put me alone in four walls with Jesus and everything else piles and disappears.
I could sit there forever because in his presence is fullness of joy. Joy that fully satisfies exciting things. Pleasures that last forever.
Start concentrating on the home that is your life and you know it could be it could be that as you do that and your faith begins to build and your relationship with the Lord begins to build. God begins to bless you in the natural and your natural home becomes a reflection of your spiritual home instead of the other way around. If you want that reach out to the Lord now.
Father I ask you to grant the desires of the hearts in Jesus name because I know you want to bless us. I thank you for that now. Hallelujah.
Thank you Jesus. Amen. Lord bless you.
