In my name they shall cast out demons.

A while back I began to seek the Lord for an answer to the question regarding why some are not healed. I wanted to find out why Christians seem to battle so much with healing.

He pointed me to this very Scripture and showed me some of the things I will share with you now.

The Body Heals Itself

Firstly you need to realize that the body heals itself. God has made us in such a way that we heal ourselves. Medical science cannot heal and doctors cannot heal.

I will be looking shortly at the role that medical science should play in the life of a believer. But the bottom line is that God has made us so that our body heals itself. 

If you cut your finger and the germs begin to enter, your body immediately goes to work to counteract it.

The white corpuscles and other contents of the blood begin to rally together. All the forces of the body go into action to cause a healing to take place in that wound.

When sickness and disease attack and come against your body, your body begins to heal itself. When you break a limb, the body immediately starts to repair that limb and to heal itself.

It is natural, it is built in, and it was made by God. God put it into man, so that the body can maintain its health. 

When a person comes down with a sickness and disease that overwhelms them, what has happened is that the body has reached a point where it can no longer cope with the attack that is being made upon it.

It cannot heal itself faster than what the disease is threatening the body. 

When that takes place then an imbalance occurs and the body becomes ill. It can no longer cope with that sickness or disease and can no longer heal itself. 

Demonic Powers at Work

What causes this to happen?

Well one of the first things that causes this to take place is the operation of demon powers - principalities, powers and rulers of darkness. They attack the body. 

You say, "But I thought it was germs and viruses that caused it." 

No, germs and viruses are there all the time. Your body fights them and overcomes them all the time. But when you come to a situation where your body cannot handle the germs and viruses anymore, then they start to prevail and win the battle. 

Those germs and viruses are living organisms. They are creatures, and they can be motivated and controlled by demon forces.

What happens is a demonic power attacks a specific part of your body and inhibits the body's natural healing process. 

Experience With High Blood Pressure

Many years ago I began to suffer with high blood pressure and decided to read up on the subject. I wanted to look to the Lord for healing from this thing. I wanted to understand how it worked so I read the medical books. 

They explained it like this. They said that as your heart beats the pressure begins to build up in the blood vessels. But there are sensory organs inside the blood vessels that detect when the pressure becomes a little bit too high. 

When they detect that it is too high they send an impulse to the brain that says,

"Blood pressure is too high. Do something about it." 

The brain immediately responds by sending a message to the heart and says,

"Slow down, you're pumping too hard. Blood pressure's too high. Slow down; beat softer." 

The heart then begins to regulate itself. It pumps softer until the blood pressure drops. When it drops too low, below the level that it should be, the sensory organs again pick it up and say,

"Blood pressure is too low now. We need to do something about this." 

It sends a message to the brain. The brain sends a message to the heart and says,

"Okay, speed up. Beat harder. Blood pressure's too low. Regulate it." 

Well that is my explanation in non-scientific terms. 

They said that when a person suffers from high blood pressure this adjustment mechanism goes wrong. They do not know why it goes wrong. They do not know what causes it. They cannot explain why it stops working, but it just does. 

I asked the Lord,

"Father, why is this system in my body not working?" 

As I prayed about it the Lord gave me a vision. I saw my brain and my heart, and I saw what looked like a tube going from my brain to my heart.

Right in the middle of the tube there was a little tap, like they put on a transfusion drip. And sitting on the tap was a little monkey which is a picture of a principality demon. He was sitting there tightening the tap. 

The Lord showed me that my brain was sending messages to my heart to tell it to slow down. But my heart was not getting the message so it did not slow down. That is why my blood pressure kept going up. 

He showed me that all I needed to do was to deal with that spirit of infirmity that was attacking my body.

If I could remove that demon power so that the brain could restore its connection with the heart, the heart would get the message and it would begin to regulate accordingly.

So I laid one hand on my head and my other hand on my heart, and I spoke to my brain. I said,

"Okay brain, send the message." 

I spoke to my heart and said,

"Heart, you listen now and you receive the message." 

Then I came against that demon force and bound it in Jesus' name. As I sat there seeing that picture in my mind and speaking it forth, I could feel my heart starting to slow down.

I could feel the tension beginning to ease. I continued like that until I felt it settle right down and calm down, and my blood pressure became regulated. 

After that, every time I began to feel that tension and those symptoms that I knew were a sign of high blood pressure, I would lay my hands on myself and I would say,

"In the name of Jesus I command that this communication will be established." 

At times it became really severe and the symptoms were so strong that I found it difficult to maintain my faith. That was when I would call my wife and say,

"The Scripture says, Where two shall agree concerning anything on the earth, it shall be done. Now you come and lay your hands on me and stand together in agreement with me on this." 

As we united our hearts together in faith, the power of God began to flow, and the evil force was overcome. I would feel my blood pressure begin to ease off and go down.

I did this continually over a period of time until eventually we did not have to do it anymore. My blood pressure was regulated and it no longer went up. I was healed.

Demons Attack the Body

Demon powers will attack your body. I remember when one of my daughters was suffering with a kidney disease. She was in severe pain and agony, and it also began to show in her urine, indicating that she was suffering from nephritis. 

We took her to the doctor and immediately the doctor said,

"This is a severe kidney infection. You must take all these antibiotics and she is going to be off school for the next week at least. It is going to take a while for this thing to clear. She must rest and stay in bed." 

So we went and got the medicine and put her to bed.

Shortly after that I was sitting waiting on the Lord. I was praying and looking to Him and asking Him to show me what was going on. He showed me that I needed to go and speak to her body using the authority that there is in the name of Jesus. 

As I went to pray with her and lay my hands on her, the Spirit of God opened my vision. And in the Spirit I saw what looked like a spider sitting on her kidney.

The Lord was showing me that there was a spirit of infirmity attacking her kidney. It was preventing it from functioning the way that it should. 

I came against that thing in the name of Jesus. I took authority over it and bound it, and I commanded it to leave her body. I saw it crawling off her and walking out the door, and it was gone. 

At that point I believe that if left alone, her body would have continued to heal itself. The cause of the disease had been removed. 

But at that time God gave me in addition a gift of healing. He showed me the kidney, and I could see it as though it had been cut open in an operating theatre. I could see it in color x-ray.

As I prayed the power of God came into my hands. The healing power flowed forth, and I saw the kidney changing color. 

I knew that she was healed and the next day she was fine. Of course she did not go back to school, because she had been booked off and she had an excuse to stay home. 

I let her stay home a couple of days before she went back to school but she was fine. The symptoms were gone, there was no more infection and it was over. 

Now I had already tried praying before we went to see the doctor. I had come in to pray and speak healing and ask God to touch her.

But healing did not come until I saw in the Spirit that there was a demon force. It was a spirit of infirmity that was involved in attacking that part of the body. 

One of the first things that you need to do when you are suffering with sickness and disease is to identify the demonic powers that are associated with causing that attack on your body.

They have brought your body to the place where it cannot heal itself anymore. 

Very often that is all you need to do. You often need nothing more than to take authority over the spirit of infirmity. You have the power to do that as a believer. The Scripture says,

These signs shall follow those who believe. In my name they shall cast out demons.

You have the authority to speak to that demon force, that spirit of infirmity and say,

"In the name of Jesus I take authority over you. You will leave this body now and you will go." 

It has to go. And when it goes you will find that the person's body is released. 

Healing is Not Always Instant

You say, "Well does the person then suddenly receive instant healing?" 

No, they do not necessarily experience instant healing, although sometimes the effect can be felt immediately.

The symptoms are likely still there, but the thing that was causing the disease has been removed. The body is now released to heal itself naturally. 

That may take a period of days, weeks or even months, depending on how serious the illness is. But you have dealt with what was causing the disease. You have dealt with the spirit of infirmity. 

This is so important but few believers understand it. They have been forward for prayer, hands have been laid on them and healing has been spoken over them.

They have exercised faith and confessed the Word. They have believed God for healing. But healing does not come because they have never dealt with the demon force that was associated with it in the first place.
