And the tongue [is] a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

The tongue sets on fire the course of nature. What does that mean? What is it saying? It is saying that your tongue controls your natural body. 

Neurosurgeons have discovered medically that the speech center of the brain is directly linked to the nervous system. This means that whatever words we speak affect our nervous system. Our nervous system then communicates with the rest of our body.

Even from a medical point of view some doctors are saying,

"We are teaching people to speak positive things. We are teaching them to speak health to their bodies." 

You can speak health. The tongue sets on fire the course of nature. Our tongue is a powerful force, and it has been trained to speak death and disease or life. 

Solomon knew this when he said in Proverbs 18:21,

Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit of it.

But our tongues have been trained to speak a curse instead of a blessing. 

We have been looking at how the power of our spirits is released through words into the earth. In Matthew 12:35 Jesus said,

A good man out of the good things deposited in his heart brings out good things:

The King James Version says,

...out of the good treasure of his heart.

It literally means the good things that were deposited in his heart. 

And an evil man out of the evil things deposited brings out evil things.

What comes out of your mouth? What you put into your heart. What did you put into your heart? Is it all the medical programs, the medical books and the medical journals?

What is it that you are putting into your heart? All those pictures of what Satan is doing in the world, of pain and suffering and sickness and disease? 

You feed it into your heart. You deposit it all into your heart and you expect it to happen. Then when you get a pain in your chest you think,

"I wonder if it is my heart." 

You get another pain in your body and you wonder if there is cancer there, or if there is some other disease. Fear fills your heart and you begin to speak it out and to say,

"I wonder if I've got this. I wonder if I have that sickness. I wonder if there is something wrong." 

Many people go to the doctor only to find out what is wrong, not to receive treatment. I have seen people who will make a big effort to go and see the doctor at the first sign of illness. 

He will prescribe medicine for them, but they don't take it because he told them it was nothing serious. That is all they need to hear when they ask,

"Am I okay? Am I going to die?" 

Oh the lies that Satan has programmed into our hearts that we think that will cause us to pick up diseases.

You have been told that if you eat certain things, drink too much coffee and use cellular phones, you will get cancer. You have heard all the statistics that prove what causes cancer. 

No, you have a right to divine healing, and it is time you begin to feed into your heart the Word of God that says, 

By His stripes you were healed.

Beloved I wish above all things, that you would prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.

We will be looking at 'even as your soul prospers' shortly. 

Healing from Your Spirit

The forces of healing come out of your heart. Solomon said, 

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the sources of life.

Your healing comes from your spirit. Do you know what happens when your spirit leaves your body? It dies. The moment your spirit leaves your body it dies and starts to decay. It cannot heal itself anymore.

Doesn't that tell you something? Somewhere along the line there must be a force from your spirit that is keeping your body alive. There is a force from your spirit that is keeping it going.

Your spirit instructs your brain to make sure that your heart beats, that your lungs breathe and that everything is normal. It makes sure that the body fights disease, that the chemicals are released to the various organs and glands in the body. 

Yes they are all motivated by the brain, but it is the spirit that controls the brain. The spirit is the real you that is within. It all comes from your spirit. 

Keep your heart with all diligence, because from that flow the sources of life. What have you been depositing in there? Have you been depositing death? Then as the Scripture says,

Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

What you speak is going to release a force that is either going to be a blessing or it is going to be a curse. You will often hear people saying something like,

"Winter is arriving. I guess we'll get flu again this year like we always do. I guess I'm going to catch a cold as soon as the cold weather arrives. It always seems to happen to me." 

We speak it forth and create it. We need to come to the place where we say,

"No, I will not be sick. I refuse to be sick! God has given me divine health and I will walk in that divine health." 

When a pain comes into your body you usually say,

"Oh dear I wonder what it is."

But you should rather say,

"How dare you; oh no you don't. You leave me right now."

Redemption from the Curse

We have been redeemed from the curse. Go and read Deuteronomy 28 and see the list of blessings and the list of curses. You will find out that after this long list of curses, including all sorts of sickness and diseases, it ends by saying: 

And everything else that is not written here.

Any sickness that you have is not a blessing from God. It is a curse, and when it shows itself in your life you should be saying,

"Hold it, you are a curse. The Bible says that Jesus has redeemed me from the curse."

You should be saying,

"He has delivered me from the curse. Hold it, you don't have a right to be in my body. I have been delivered from you, now get out." 

Don't be found saying,

"All those viruses have got a hold of me. There is nothing I can do about it. The doctors say that it is incurable." 

Who cares what the doctors say. What does God say in His Word? Your mouth must change.  

They shall speak with new tongues.

If you do not have the ability to speak it with your native tongue, then lay your hand on your body and start to pray in other tongues. Go on and on praying in tongues and keep speaking to your body. 

Keep speaking in tongues and releasing the power of God into the earth. Do it until that healing power that is in your spirit begins to surge forth and pour through your body; until it purges out that sickness and disease.

Divine Protection

Jesus said,

These signs will follow those who believe... they shall take up serpents.

A serpent is a deadly thing that sinks its fangs into you. If it is one of these poisonous things like an adder or a cobra you are history in minutes. This refers to deadly poisons and attack from the outside. 

Jesus was saying,

"You will be protected even when something comes from without and doesn't come from within your body; some kind of injury, poison or danger that comes from without. If you believe you will even be protected from that." 

As believers we are entitled to divine protection. 

You say, "I sure hope I don't have an accident in my car going to work. I hope I don't come off my bike and hurt myself or break my neck. I hope somebody doesn't take a shot at me by accident." 

You are a child of God and you are protected from these things.

The Scripture tells us in Acts how Paul took hold of some branches and a snake came up and latched itself to his hand. The people thought he was going to die for sure, but the Scripture says that he shook it off into the fire. 

He was a believer. He knew that he was protected and that Satan had no right to attack him. It was a ploy to destroy him. He refused to allow it to happen. 

No matter what attack may come from without, you are protected and you have the right to claim your protection. You have the right to say,

"I will not suffer this." 

But we spend thousands of dollars on insurance, covering ourselves in case something goes wrong. This is your insurance right here. 

These signs shall follow them that believe.

It is cheaper to pay insurance than believe though isn't it? I am not knocking insurance. If you do not have the faith then you had better get it. All I am saying is if you can trust God you will not need it. 

If you can walk in His faith and in His protection, He will take care of you. He will set His angels guard over you to keep you in all your ways and protect you if you dash your foot against a stone.

Isn't that what it says in Psalm 91? It is a beautiful Psalm that speaks of God's protection. It speaks about dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty to be protected by Him.

Victory Over Poisons

Jesus said:

These signs shall follow those who believe... they shall drink any deadly thing and it shall not harm them.

They will be able to drink poison and it shall not harm them. They will be able to eat something that is poisonous and deadly and it shall not harm them. 

Again we are looking at something coming from without that can affect the body. 

Today particularly in the society that we live in, we know that our foods are no longer natural. They have been denatured and covered in chemicals to protect them from pests.

They have been sprayed with all sorts of poisons and been contaminated with flavor enhancers and all sorts of junk. 

You can develop allergies. Your body starts to react against the very things that you eat. When you eat a certain food your body reacts and you break out in boils or sores and rashes.

You begin to wheeze and suffer from asthma. If you breathe contaminated air your lungs get choked up. 

All of these things affect you. They are things that are taken into the body. 

Jesus said,

These signs shall follow them that believe... they shall drink any deadly thing and it shall not harm them.

You have the right to take that food and say,

"This food will not harm me." 

Personal Healing

I remember a time when I could not eat asparagus. I loved asparagus and I still love it. But every time I ate just one or two spears of it I would get the most violent headache.

I remember one day we were speaking about this and discussing principles of healing and something rose up in my wife. 

She said, "You don't have to accept that. The Scripture says you shall eat any deadly thing and it will not harm you." 

She laid her hands on me and took authority over that thing. She said,

"I bind that now in Jesus' name. You will not be affected." 

I want you to know I have been eating asparagus ever since. It has not affected me again. 

I used to also be affected by chocolate. Then one day I got fed up and said,

"This is enough already! I want to eat some chocolate." 

This time I took authority over it myself. I laid my hands on my body and I said,

"Body, you're going to take this chocolate and you're going to enjoy it. You will not be affected by it, you will not get a headache, and you will not break out in anything. You will receive it with joy." 

I can eat as much chocolate as I like now and it does not affect me anymore. These signs shall follow them that believe. But we just accept it and say,

"Oh well that's the way I was born. It's genetic you know; it runs in my family. We're all allergic to these things. We can't eat prawns, shrimps or other seafood because they affect us. My dad was like that and so was his dad." 

No, it is a curse. You do not have to accept it. You are redeemed from the curse.

Sickness and disease is a curse but Christ has redeemed you from the curse. You do not have to be subject to it. You do not have to accept it and you can be free from it.
