Starting With Conception

Mark 4:20 says:

And these are those which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive [it], and bring forth fruit, some thirty times, some sixty, and some a hundred.

In this section I want to look at the subject of spiritual birthing.

Childbirth is part of our everyday life. It happens all the time even though we are not always aware of it. Every time you breathe in and out, the chances are that another child came into the world, or maybe several did.

Childbirth is taking place all the time. Of course sometimes what is born is not what we had hoped for, but the birth takes place nevertheless. We cannot help it; it comes naturally.

I was there for the birth of two of my children, and I learned a little bit about the birth process from having seen some of the things that take place. I want to therefore use the birth process as an illustration of the spiritual principle of birthing.

It involves giving birth to something that starts within your spirit, and allowing it to grow until it manifests in the earth.

We have been speaking about creating using the forces of the recreated spirit, by releasing them forth into the earth. Childbirth is such a creation. It is the creation of a new life and there are several processes involved.

It is often quite a long process (9 months for humans) until the full birth takes place. I want to show you here how closely it actually matches the exact principles that we have been looking at.

I will be describing some of the things that happen in birth and use them as spiritual illustrations.

Granted, as a man I may not have experienced some of these things personally. However I believe that my observation and knowledge of these things have helped me to understand them better.

So I will be using actual experiences and processes to explain what takes place when we start to reach out to God to receive the blessings that He has for us.

A Decision is Needed

There are various stages involved in childbirth. Before it can even begin there needs to be a decision that leads to the starting of the process. A lot of the time - hopefully most of the time - the mother and father decide that they want a child.

You need to make a decision. Before the process is started there must come a decision that says,

"I plan to bring another child into this world."

We are the ones who choose to cause a birth to take place. Often a conception and birth takes place that was unplanned and sometimes unwanted.

In the world we live in this often happens with the wrong person, and what is born is not what you wanted to be born. I am not going to be talking about sex and illegitimate childbirth here, but I am sure you get the picture.

Childbirth can take place either by a choice or by an accident. It still takes place nevertheless, because the same process is involved. So whether you do it right or wrong it still happens.

When you compare this with the realm of the spirit, it becomes obvious that we are birthing all the time. Conception and childbirth take place naturally in the world that we are in.

In the animal kingdom healthy sheep give birth to new lambs. You do not have to teach them how to do it. It happens automatically. In all of God's creation, conception and birth are taking place all of the time.

It is the same in the spiritual life as well. The things that we conceive and give birth to very often are not blessings. Often you failed to give birth to a blessing because you did not make a conscious decision to give birth to a blessing.

You went through the same process though, and as a result you ended up giving birth to something that you did not want.

You need to understand the mechanics and the process of it. Then you will know how to cause the birth to take place that you really do want.

Conceiving in Love

So we start right at the beginning. Before birth can take place there has to be conception. A sperm and an egg have to come together. For that to take place there will have to be some kind of intercourse between a man and a woman.

There will have to be a very intimate relationship; a very close union in the physical before conception can take place. Usually if we do it the right way, it starts with love.

Love is what originates the giving of birth and it is what originates conception. When two people come together in love then conception often takes place.

It is exactly the same in the spiritual realm. Whatever we give birth to in the Spirit needs to be motivated firstly by love.

We looked briefly at the force of love in the first book, and I want to wrap it now into this picture, so that you can see the role that it plays. We will look at it in more detail in the next and final section.

Everything begins with love. Love causes the close union that results in conception taking place, as two important media are joined together. The sperm comes from one and the egg comes from another, and they unite together to cause a life to form.

In the spiritual realm there are also two media that need to come together before a spiritual conception can take place. These are the Spirit and the Word. The two must come together before something can be born.

When this takes place then conception occurs. How does it happen? It happens when the Word of God enters your heart.

The Word enters your heart when there is an intercourse in the Spirit. A close union occurs and the Word and the Spirit combine together. Fertilization takes place, and life begins as faith is conceived in the heart of man. It always begins with love.

As in love we come into His presence and place His Word into our hearts, a fertilization and conception take place. Deep within our heart the Spirit and the Word combine together and faith is conceived.

The Scripture says:

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

When the conception takes place then the third force of hope also comes into play. This force holds things in place as we follow through the rest of the stages that are needed before the birth can take place.

Starting it With the Word

How does it start? It should start with a conscious decision to receive the blessing that you will enter into. Remember we have seen that God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ.

The blessing is yours. But in order for you to give birth to that blessing, you need to put the Word of God into your spirit.

If you desire to give birth to the blessing of physical healing, then you need to get into the Word and find Scriptures on physical healing.

Perhaps you want to have the blessing of prosperity and financial provision. If so then you had better get into the Word and find some Scriptures on prosperity.

Whatever blessing you desire, whether it is wisdom and understanding, deliverance or anything else, you will have to find it in the Word.

Once you have done this, then you will need to move into a place of intimacy with the Lord in His Word. You need to place that Word into your spirit as close as they can possibly get together, in order for true spiritual intercourse to take place.

You can do this by the process of meditation. Meditation involves thinking it, speaking it, eating it, touching it, tasting it, smelling it and hearing it as you apply all your senses to it.

You fill your heart and your mind with the Word until you are saturated with it. The Word must penetrate and permeate your inner being.

This is how conception takes place, and it is your starting point if you are to receive anything from the Lord. If you are to enter into any one of the blessings that God has for you, then you will need to take the Word and cause it to come to life.

Until that Word comes to life and the Spirit of God that is in your spirit combines with that Word, there will be no conception and life will not begin. Not until faith and a rhema word comes forth can there be a birth.

You can take Scriptures and quote them to your heart's content. You can claim the promises and demand that they are yours, but nothing will happen.

God must take the logos Word and speak it afresh in His lips to you alone as a rhema word by the Holy Spirit. Until that happens no faith is born and no conception takes place.

Until conception takes place no growth begins, and there is no hope of a birth ever occurring. You have to begin at the correct starting point.

You can stand there and hope that you have a baby as much as you like. You can read books about having babies and daydream about having them. But until conception takes place you are not going to be pregnant. You have to start it the right way.
