Depositing into Your Bank Account
What currency does Heaven use?
If I am to invest in the heavenly realm then I need to use the right currency. I need to find out what kind of currency they use there, and then convert what I invest into the currency that Heaven works in.
You say, "I didn't know it was that complicated. I just thought that when I pay my tithes and I give offerings, I give to the work of the Lord. That's giving to God isn't it?"
No we are talking about investing into your heavenly bank account here. We are not talking about throwing your money on the ground without knowing what you are doing with it.
Perhaps the reason most of the money that you have given out has never reached your heavenly bank account, is because you gave the wrong currency. If you give the wrong currency it is of no use.
In Mark 10:21 the rich young ruler came to Jesus with all of his wealth and possessions. It says:
Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, One thing you are lacking: go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Using Heavenly Currency
What is the currency of Heaven? Heaven is a spiritual realm. It is the realm of the Spirit because God is a Spirit.
We looked at the forces and the nature of spirit. They are faith, hope and love. Do you want to know what the currency of Heaven is? It is faith, hope and love.
You cannot invest dollars in Heaven. Sorry, they do not accept that currency there. They only accept faith, hope and love.
So if you want to invest money into the Kingdom of God; if you wish to invest in your heavenly bank account, you will have to convert your money into faith, hope or love before it can be deposited into your bank account.
Jesus said to the young man,
"I want you to take the things that you depend on; all of your wealth and your riches that are your livelihood. They are the things that you have your faith and your trust in, and I want you to give them up sacrificially."
That was an act of faith. If that young man had done what Jesus had said; if he had by faith in the Lord and trusting His Word, taken those things and given them up, he would have converted them into faith.
The Lord would have then taken that faith for him and invested it in his bank account.
Jesus said, "Take it and give it to the poor."
You cannot give to the poor without having the love of God in your heart.
He said, "Give out of loving care and compassion for somebody who is in need."
If he had done that, as he gave it forth he would have poured forth in love, and he would have converted all of his material possession into the heavenly currency of love.
Then He said, "Set your eyes on me now and follow me as I go."
If he had done that, he would have put his eyes of hope on the Lord and not on things, and he would have released the force of hope.
He would have converted all of his material possessions into faith, hope and love. They would have been invested into his heavenly bank account in the heavenly realm for him. It was treasure in Heaven.
You say, "But if I give it all out then I will have nothing left. I will have lost it."
No you haven't lost it. When you go to your bank and deposit the money in there, do you come home and wring your hands and say,
"Oh well it's gone now. We will never see our money again."
Well I do not know what kind of banks you have in your country, but normally when I invest in a bank I have the confidence that says,
"If I need that money, next time I go there it will be available for me to withdraw."
I know banks have been known to go bust, but this usually does not happen. The money will be there and available for me to withdraw.
You say, "Well that was fine. He was the rich young ruler. He had lots of money and lots of possessions. What about me? I'm just a poor little guy trying to earn enough money to feed my family and I'm battling to do that.
We can barely make ends meet and you want me to give? I don't have enough money to put food on the table for my kids, and you are saying I should give?"
Investing Things and Money
How do we make deposits, and what is it that we deposit?
Things and money are a good place to start. If you have things and you have money, then that is a good investment to begin with.
Perhaps you have come to the place where your supply has dwindled down. It seems that there is nothing coming in, and you have reached a point of desperation and don't know where to turn to.
If you are in this situation, why not make an investment in your heavenly bank account? Start looking around at whatever you have and say,
"Hold it, I'm sure I have something here that I can give away. I am sure there is something here that I can invest into my heavenly bank account."
Why would you want to do that? Because when you invest in your heavenly bank account and you go to make a withdrawal, you don't only get out what you put in. You receive a lot more.
That is why preachers have used the other Scriptural principle of the sowing of a seed.
When you plant a seed, it begins to grow and bear forth a plant that gives more seed. There is a whole lot more seed that comes from the plant than the seed you put in. But you say,
"I don't have things or money. I really would like to give, but what do I give?"
Investing Time
There are other things you have to give. How about your time? Have you ever heard this expression?
Time is money.
You take the hours that you are given to you every day and you convert them into the physical equivalent don't you? You use many hours of the time that you have every day to be employed somewhere.
As a result someone will give you cash because of the work that you have put in. They will pay you for the time that you invested working in that business. You have time to invest.
You say, "Well I work long hours. I get home and barely have enough time to sit down and relax with the family and eat, then I have to go and sleep."
So sleep less or eat less, but find some time. If you do not have anything financial, physical or temporal to give, then find some time to give.
You see it doesn't matter whether it be material or time, you will still have to convert it to the spiritual equivalent before you can invest it in your heavenly bank account.
The Greatest Investment
Remember that you are not investing money, things or time. You have to invest faith, hope and love, and you can obtain faith, hope and love from many different things.
I want to give you now what is the richest, the most powerful and the valuable investment that you can make. It is one that costs you absolutely nothing except a little bit of time and effort.
The Lord told me once,
"If my people would take the time to lift up their hearts in praise and worship to me; if they would invest in my Kingdom in praise and in worship, I will withhold nothing from them."
God has promised us a return on what we invest. But when it comes to praise and worship, there are no bounds to the interest rate that you will get.
God delights in the praises of His people. If you have nothing to give or to invest into your heavenly bank account, start to praise Him. How much effort does it take to walk around saying,
"Hallelujah, glory, thank you Jesus. Praise you Lord, I love you Jesus. Thank you Father, you are worthy of glory and worthy of praise."
Lift your heart in song and praise and worship to Him. It stirs His heart. He becomes like a bank manager looking at a millionaire bringing his millions in. He loves our praise and our worship.
If you have nothing else to give or invest, start to praise Him. Instead of sitting wallowing, and moaning and groaning about your situation, start to praise Him and worship Him.
We need to praise God for all things. The Scripture says,
In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
So take whatever it is that you want to invest, whether it is money, things, or time. Hold it up to the Lord and say,
"Lord I give it to you."
The Right Attitude and Motive
Jesus is the only man in Heaven who has the authority to deposit into your bank account, since He is both God and man. But you have to convert it to the right currency.
How do you go about doing that? You will have to give with the right motives and attitude. You will not be able to bribe the Lord. You cannot come to Him and praise Him thinking,
"If I praise the Lord long enough maybe I'll impress Him and He will start doing things for me."
Do not think like the Pharisees did who said,
"I give tithes and a big amount of offering into the offering plate every week at church. I give money to the poor and I give to charities and other institutions."
No, you have to give in faith. And giving in faith is going to cost you because it is has to be sacrificial.
Giving in faith means you have to give at times when it is going to hurt you. It means that you have to give something that you need; that you have to give beyond what you can afford.
Sometimes you will have to give of time that you do not have. And it means you will have to praise Him when you do not feel like it.
It should be sacrificial giving in faith, with the right motive of love and care and not,
"Let me just give this guy some money and get him off my back."
No, you need a heart of love that pours forth. It should not be,
"I suppose if I pay my tithes this pastor will stop nagging me."
No, it should be,
"I want to bless this ministry and see it going forward for God. I'm going to make my time available. I'm going to work for free for somebody that is in need, for the Kingdom of God."
When you do that then you are giving out in faith, in hope and in love.
Give it to Jesus
The way to give is to see you giving directly to the Lord. You hold it up to Him and see Him taking it from your hands. Say to Him,
"Here it is Lord. I yield it up to you."
It is at this point that you have made your deposit. Before you ever put a cent in the offering plate, write out your check and give it to someone or take those bank notes and hand them out, you had better make sure you have converted them to heavenly currency.
Then make sure you have given them to Jesus and asked Him to invest it. By doing this you have transmuted your investment into heavenly currency and sent it straight into your heavenly bank account.
