Scriptural Examples
I want to end off now by giving you a few Scriptural examples and illustrations of how these principles have been applied in the past in the Word.
This is not just theory or a science lesson I have given you. These things have been applied by people in the Bible and by the Lord Jesus Himself.
Joshua and Jericho
When God called Joshua to go out and conquer the land of Canaan, He said this to Joshua in Joshua 1:3: Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that I have given to you, as I said to Moses.
He also said to Joshua in verse 8: This book of the law shall not cease [to come] out of your mouth; but you shall meditate in it day and night.
Joshua meditated on the Word, filled himself with it and spoke it continually. The Word was on his lips all the time.
You could probably have awoken Joshua in the middle of the night and asked him to speak, and he would have given you a Scripture. He was so full of it.
Sometimes he had to probably come down to earth a little to speak normally. His mouth was filled with the Word of God. He was thinking about the Scriptures and about the Word of God all the time.
The Bible tells us concerning Joshua, that while he was still under training and a servant of Moses, he would go with Moses to the tent of meeting to come into the presence of God.
God would come down and Moses would talk with the Lord. Then Moses would leave the tent, and Joshua would stay there a few hours more just to be in the presence of God.
Once he had taken over from Moses, God said to Joshua, Every place you put your foot I have given it to you.
Notice the past tense there. He said, "I have given it to you."
How did Joshua conquer Canaan? He did it by putting his foot on it. God had already given it to him in essence, but until he put his foot on it, it was not his.
The power of the Spirit is within you. But until you release it against the situation to speak forth a Word into the earth to create that thing, it is not going to take place.
Let's look at how Joshua used this power. We read in Joshua 6 that they came against the city of Jericho. It was surrounded by walls and God gave Joshua some very clear instructions.
He said, "I want you to take the priests with the rams' horns and get them to march in front, with the Ark and all the people coming behind them.
I want you to walk around the walls of Jericho blowing the rams horns and carrying the presence of God that is in the Ark. I want you to do it once every day for six days, and on the seventh day I want you to go around seven times.
As you come to the end of the seven times, I want you to get the priests to blow one long blast on the ram's horn and then somebody must blow the trumpet. When this happens, then get everyone to shout and the walls will come down."
It sounds like they were putting a laser together there don't you think? They were putting together a situation of taking the power of God, blowing the rams horns and speaking forth.
Once a day they went around the walls. They went around their problem. As they looked at the walls they were praising God and speaking. They were declaring it forth and the laser was building up.
Each day as they went it built a bit more. Then on the seventh day as they went - one, two, three, four, five, six, seven times - Joshua gave the order, "Blow the ram's horn. Sound the trumpet. Shout!"
That is when they pulled the trigger. That is when God's power went forth and the walls of Jericho could not stand. They came tumbling down instantly.
Jesus and Lazarus
I would like to show you another example from the life of Jesus.
Jesus Himself used these same principles of releasing power. But Jesus charged up His laser daily. He spent time in the presence of the Father daily communing with Him.
Jesus also spent time in the Word. He had to have known the Word well to be able to quote it like He did. He was full of the Word and full of the Spirit.
Jesus received a message that His good friend Lazarus was sick and dying. We all know the story. His sisters sent a message saying, "Lord, the man that you love is sick. Please come and heal him."
Jesus loved Lazarus with a very special, tender love. He loves us all, but Lazarus was a special friend. Jesus had all the faith, He had all the love and He had all the hope. He could do anything, but I want you to see how He used that power.
Jesus prayed to the Father and the Father said, "Stay another couple of days."
Jesus did not go running off and say, "Let me go and fire my laser and say, Be healed!"
It was not time yet because there were a few more things here that needed to come into play.
It is so important that you do not go off half-cocked in releasing the power of God. You should not be firing your laser left, right and center wherever you like.
You need to be led by the Spirit of God. And the actions that you take must be regulated by the Spirit of God.
Many people miss it at this point. They think they can just claim whatever they want and it has to come. No, you have to be led by the Spirit of God. God has a correct time even though you are walking with Him.
Even though your laser is fully charged, very often there is a time and a place when God instructs you and says, "Do it now!"
This is just what happened with Joshua. God said, "Now is the time to do it."
Jesus said to His disciples, "We will go there now to where Lazarus is, because he is asleep and we will go and wake him up."
Jesus spoke forth His faith. He knew Lazarus was dead. He knew it but He would not say it. He would only let His lips be fitted with the Word of God and the truth, and the clear picture that He saw in His mind.
As far as He was concerned, "Lazarus is just asleep. We will go and wake him up and just carry on."
The disciples looked at Him and said, "Lord, if he's sleeping why don't you just leave him? I mean let the guy sleep a bit."
Jesus had to say to them, "Listen, he's dead."
Jesus stood there as He came to the tomb where Lazarus's dead body was lying. He had the faith. He had prayed, he had the direction and he was ready to shoot.
Can you imagine Jesus standing waiting now for the Father to do something? He could have stood there for a long time and nothing would have happened.
You say, "But Jesus had to pray."
No, Jesus had already prayed, because when He stood by the tomb He said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I know that you always hear me."
Jesus had already prayed about this. But praying was not enough, not even for the Son of God.
You say, "But I've really been praying and I've been looking to the Lord. I've been trusting Him to provide and to meet my needs."
It is not enough. There has to come a release of God's power and authority into the earth.
Jesus Released it in Action
Jesus began to release that power through action. He said to them, "Roll away the stone from the tomb."
They looked at Him as though He was mad and said, "Don't you know this guy's been dead for four days already? He's rotten. There is going to be a bad smell coming out there, Lord."
"Roll away the stone."
Jesus had put Himself at a point of no return, because if Lazarus had not come back from the dead, He would have discredited His entire ministry. He would have been shown to be a fraud. He would have missed it. Jesus had to put His faith on the line.
God said, "Action. Put your foot on the land, Joshua, and it will become yours."
"But I don't see any land." "Put your foot down and the land will appear."
Somebody said once, "Faith is stepping out onto nothing but the Word of God."
Jesus put His faith into action. Then He lifted His heart in praise to the Father. I think He had a praise session there and said, "Thank you Father that you heard me. Hallelujah."
He united His heart with the Father and He spoke. Who did He speak to?
"Well Father, I believe that you're going to raise Lazarus from the dead. And so Father I ask you now to raise Lazarus up."
No, He didn't do that. Yes He prayed, then He faced the dead body that was lying in the tomb. He spoke to that body and said,
"Lazarus. Yes, you dead body, it's you I'm talking to. Come forth!"
He released His laser beam right into that dead body, and the dead body came to life. Well what did you expect? He sent forth a creative Word of power to raise Lazarus from the dead.
It was very powerful because it not only raised Him from the dead, but it actually picked up his body and stood it up by the door. He was all wrapped up in those strips that they used to wrap them up in those days with all the herbs and spices.
The power of releasing the authority of the Word of God, by the power of the Spirit of God in the earth, brought an instant result. It raised Lazarus from the dead, but there was one more thing that had to be done after that.
If Lazarus had been left there the way he came forth he would have died again. Have you ever tried breathing with all those things around your face? The guy was all tied up.
Jesus said, "Loose him and set him free. Take all that stuff off him and release him to come forth now."
Be Poised and Ready
Perhaps you have a heart full of faith. You have built a good template. You have meditated on the Word of God, and you have a clear picture in your heart and mind of what God's will is and what is going to be accomplished.
You have a heart that is filled with love and your motives are pure. You have a heart that is full of hope. The picture is clear in your mind and you are ready to go.
All you need to do now is just to say, "Okay Lord I want to pull the trigger now."
Just get your laser charged and get ready until God says, "Now!"
Perhaps you have drilled down into your underground stream. You have sunk your pipe down for the water to come out and the water is gushing forth.
Now all you need to do is to put a device at the top to pump the water out. You put a windmill there. You have seen them dotted around the countryside in some places.
As soon as the vanes of the windmill turn, the pump begins to operate. The water is pulled out from the underground stream up through the pipe and it gushes out.
But you have to wait for the wind. When the wind comes and blows on that windmill it begins to turn. All you need to do is to set up your windmill and your pump.
All you need to do is to set up your laser, and get it charged and ready to go. Then let the Lord take charge. Wait on Him and say, "Okay Lord, tell me when. Oh Lord, I can't wait."
Just stand ready and waiting. Keep it charged and keep it poised. Do not lose it at that point. Do not give up in despair and say, "It is never going to happen."
Just hang in there. Keep it going and keep it charged until your Joshua says, "Okay, shout."
Then the power of God is going to come forth. The Spirit of God is going to move out to create the thing that you have believed for; to destroy that mountain that stands before you and to remove all the obstacles that are in your way.
God will reach out by His power, and He will provide every single thing that you have believed Him for.
