Having a Healthy Pregnancy

Once conception has taken place, the fetus is formed as cells begin to multiply in the sperm and the egg. The fetus then attaches itself to the place that it is going to spend the rest of the gestation period.

It is going to attach itself to the womb. The womb is a place of safety and protection. The fetus has to stay in the womb for the entire duration of the gestation period. If it leaves there then life cannot continue and birth will never take place.

What is the womb? It is the heart of man. The womb is the soul or the inner man.

And so as the Word has gone into your heart; as the Spirit and the Word have combined together and life has formed, there comes a time of incubation.

The Condition of the Womb

John 1:2 says:

Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.

Both health and prosperity are thus dependent upon how well your soul is prospering. If your soul is not in the right condition then those things will not come forth. If the womb is not healthy then the fetus will not develop into a child and be born.

The womb has to be in the right condition. It has to be healthy. Your soul will have to create a healthy environment for what has been conceived in your spirit to come forth.

We saw this when we looked at building spiritual templates in the first book. You must cause your mind, emotions and will to become filled with the right pictures. The right feelings and actions are necessary to create an environment for the power of God to go forth.

The fetus must be nourished continually while it is in the womb. Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:2:

As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow by it:

It starts with the Word and it continues with the Word. Because faith has been conceived and in your heart you know that God has given you what you have desired of Him, this does not mean that the process now stops. You must continue to feed what was conceived in you.

A Waiting Period

You have come to the Lord in prayer and said,

"Father, this is my need and my desire. This is what I ask of you."

As you took the Word and fed it into your heart and meditated on it, the Spirit of God quickened that Word and said to you,

"I have given you what you have asked of me. It is yours now."

Conception has taken place, but you are expecting it to come tomorrow. Unfortunately it usually takes a little longer than that. There is a process that needs to be followed through before that thing is going to manifest in the earth.

This is where so many people miss it. They have prayed and asked God for something and it did not come right away. They therefore assume that God must have said no.

Can you imagine trying to plan a baby that way? You get up the next morning and the baby has not been born yet and you think,

"What happened? Did we do it wrong?"

None of us are that foolish are we? But yet we expect things to happen that way in the spiritual.

We expect creation to always take place instantly, but there is a process that has to be followed through. You must continue to exercise that power of faith, hope and love.

In order to release the force of the Spirit and the power of God into the earth to bring about a creation, there has to be a waiting period. There is going to be a time period during which what has been conceived in you will have to be fed and allowed to grow.

As you look at it from the outside it might not look like anything is happening. There is no sign of it. You might be tempted to pray,

"Lord you promised me that you would give me the desire of my heart. Father I asked you to touch my body and to heal me, but the lump is still there. It still hurts. I still have all the symptoms. Lord where is your healing?

Lord you promised me that new thing that I asked for. Where is it? When is it coming? Lord did I hear you right?"

There is a waiting period. You cannot see it, but by faith you know that it is there because you know that a conception took place. So you continue feeding it with the Word. You continue walking up and down saying,

"By His stripes I have been healed. Father, I thank you for my healing."

"In the name of Jesus I have what I have asked of God! In Jesus' name I am what I asked of God. It is mine. Hallelujah. I know I can't see it, but it is here in me. It is growing, hallelujah."

Stand on the Word. Continue to stand on the promise of the Word that you stood on in the first place. God quickened that Word to you and caused the faith to arise in your heart, now hold onto it and do not let it go.

Signs of Growth

After a while something starts to happen. In that natural the signs start to show that a woman is pregnant. The clothes start to become too tight and there comes a bulging in places.

There are signs that something is going on in there. It is getting bigger and bigger. It is becoming more obvious.

When you walk down the street people can see it. It is starting to show. You must continue to hold on until God starts to give you confirmation. He will give you plenty of signs to indicate that this thing in you is beginning to grow.

In pregnancy the signs can be quite prominent and you see movement taking place in the womb. The baby begins to kick and move about in the womb and limbs sometimes protrude as the baby changes position.

You cannot see the baby yet. You do not know yet what color the eyes or hair will be. You do not know yet whether it is going to be male or female.

You cannot see it with the naked eye, but the signs are there that there is life inside. It is growing and active and one day soon you know that it will be here.

That is how it must be with your faith. As you continue to hold on and feed it and stand on the Word, things will start to happen.

Signs will start to show. Circumstances will start to change. Your hope will grow stronger and stronger and your vision will grow clearer and clearer.

Perhaps your healing will take place slowly. Perhaps the signs that God is at work will be gradual.

It may be that your provision becomes a greater possibility as you see circumstances beginning to change in your life.

Before you may not have known how God was going to provide this thing. But now you begin to see how things have started to happen that could lead to it coming into your hands.

Exercising Caution

As the mother carries a child she is feeding it continuously, but she needs to be careful. She is not free to do what she used to do before or free to go where she used to go before. She cannot eat and drink what she used to before.

She has to avoid certain things because they could be dangerous to the baby. She has to avoid certain medications because they could harm the baby.

She has to stay away from certain foods and substances that she takes into her body. And she must be aware of the environment that she is exposed to because it could affect the baby.

As you are reaching out to the Lord and waiting on Him to cause this thing to take place in your life, it is also important that you pay very special attention to your life and to the way you walk.

No Bitterness or Fear

You cannot afford bitterness to come into your heart. It is poison and will destroy the baby. Do not allow it to enter your heart or to remain there, because it will destroy the life that God has placed within you.

Fear is also a destructive poison. It is one of the most deadly substances where your faith, hope and love are concerned.

It is so easy to let these things come in even in small doses. And it doesn't take a large amount of them to affect your spiritual life.

It only takes a little bit of fear to begin to neutralize your faith. It only takes a little bit of bitterness to neutralize your love, and discouragement soon steals your hope.

When your faith, hope and love come under attack then the child in the womb becomes paralyzed. It is affected immediately and death begins to set in. It no longer has a healthy environment in which to grow. It is being fed the wrong things.

When the woman is carrying she needs to take extra vitamins. She needs to take a lot of extra substances that she does not normally have to, for the sake of the baby, in order that it may grow healthy and quickly.

Your Life Changes

If you are trusting God for blessing in your life then you cannot afford to walk as an ordinary believer. You cannot afford to dabble in the world and remain just mediocre.

You will have to pay attention to your spiritual life. You will have to concentrate on what is important to you now, which is the thing that has been conceived in your heart.

What you have conceived is going to determine where you go, what you do, and what you say. It is going to determine everything in your life. It is going to change you.

Ask any woman who has been through a pregnancy. Those nine months are like no other period of your life. You are restricted. You are in a different lifestyle, and you have to continuously say,

"Hold it, that would be bad for the baby. I'd better be careful."

You have to watch every step and take care. And so it must be in your spiritual life as well.

The mother must also avoid strenuous physical activity. She needs to rest. By the same token she needs to build up her strength by exercising.

All of these things that are normally an effort become necessary because you want a healthy birth to take place.

You will have to spend a lot more time in the Word. You will have to feed a lot more vitamins in there. You will have to spend a lot of time soaking in the presence of the Lord, filling up with His power and letting it pour in.

You must feed what has been conceived in your heart, so that it may grow healthy and strong.

Follow it Through

This goes on for the whole gestation period, and a specific amount of time is needed for each thing to take place. If you try to give birth before the time you could lose everything.

The child could miscarry, and the life that
