Way of Blessing Part 2 - Using Your Blessing - Chapter 21 of 25

Preparing for the Birth

What do you do when the baby is on the way; when all the signs are there? You begin to prepare for the birth. You start asking questions like,

"Which hospital are we going to go to for the birth? Are we going to have a home birth? Who is the gynecologist going to be?

Where are we going to have the nursery? How are we going to decorate it? What color are we going to paint it?"

You start buying things and preparing the room. You start preparing the family. You begin to prepare the environment that the baby is going to be in when it's born.

If you have asked the Lord for a new car, have you organized the garage to lock it up in when it arrives?

If you believe and know that this thing has been conceived in you, then you begin to prepare in every possible way for the day that it will manifest in the earth.

You start to choose a name for the baby long before it is born. You start including the baby in your plans and you say things like,

"When we go on vacation next year, we will have to put John in the back in his carry cot."

You start including the child in your plans, because you know that he or she is going to be a part of everything that takes place in your life.

Or does your conversation perhaps go instead like this?

"Well if the baby gets born then we'll think about it. I have great doubts, but if it does get born then we'll have to start doing this and that. If it gets born then maybe we should think about a name."

If you think this way then you have not built your hope correctly. You do not have that clear-cut vision from the Lord and you are not ready to give birth.

When you create an environment for when the child comes forth, it will fit naturally into that environment. Begin to prepare your heart to receive and expect what God has promised you. Expect His Word to be fulfilled.

You say, "But what happens if it miscarries along the way?"

That will depend on you. If you keep the womb healthy there is no reason for it to ever miscarry.

You say, "Well it happens to some people."

Yes, but it doesn't have to happen to you. It is up to you to keep your soul healthy; to feed your heart and your soul on the Word of God. It is up to you to water it and spend time in the presence of God and build yourself up spiritually.

Recognizing New Responsibilities

As you begin to include the baby in your plans, you will come to realize that the new baby is also going to bring responsibilities. You will have a responsibility when this child comes.

There will be changes taking place in your life. You will have to start getting ready an hour earlier before you leave. I remember that only too well with the birth of my children.

You will hear folks saying,

"I can't understand why since the baby was born we're always an hour late for everything. We always used to be on time before."

Have you been there? When the blessing of God comes into your life it is going to change you. It is going to change your life and your lifestyle. Things are going to be different.

Begin to prepare your heart for it now. Begin to see it, visualize it, live in it and talk about it. Begin to plan for it because change is coming. Expect it because it is going to happen.

This continues throughout the period of incubation as the baby is forming in the womb. As these things take place, wonderful pictures form. You are filled with joy as you think,

"It's going to be so wonderful to hold the baby in my arms. It's going to be wonderful to have a little child."

The Travail of Birth

Unfortunately there is one more stage to childbirth which is the most important one. This is a stage that every woman wishes she could avoid, but it is the essential part of birth.

It is the labor; the pain and the suffering part. The conception was probably fun. It was enjoyable.

Carrying the baby can be fun. The woman goes through a time of blossoming in pregnancy where she feels good and looks good.

You are all excited about the baby, but the closer you get to the end the worse it becomes. You grow more and more weary and the baby grows very heavy. You cannot wait for this thing to come out now.

You sit and you wait and wait. You know that any day now it is going to start and the contractions will begin. But that last stage seems to take longer than the whole of the incubation period. It seems like it will never arrive.

It is just like that spiritually. As you have exercised your faith you have trusted God. You have known that He is going to bring it.

But sometimes you begin to become discouraged and wonder if it is even going to arrive. You wonder if this thing is ever going to manifest, or whether you imagined the whole thing. You cry out,

"Oh Father, when are you going to answer our prayers? Lord, when are we going to see the thing that we've trusted you for? When are we going to see the manifestation in the earth of what you gave us in the spiritual realm?"

The Contractions Begin

Labor begins on time. It may look like it will never arrive, but it comes right on time, usually when you least expect it. It happens when you finally reach the point where you say,

"Oh well I just give up. I don't think this is ever going to come."

Then suddenly you say,

"Uh oh, what was that? Something happened there. Was that my imagination? Nope, there it goes again."

Contractions have begun. Fun time has arrived. Now begins the pain. Now begins the suffering and the most difficult part of the birth.

Do not think that your blessing is suddenly going to arrive out of the blue. You will not open your front door and see the package lying there on the ground.

It is not going to happen. There is going to be pain and suffering first.

It Comes With Pressure

If you have been trusting God for physical healing you will likely grow worse. The pain is going to increase. You will be tested on every single count.

If you have been trusting God for financial prosperity then everything will likely go wrong. You will end up in debt. There will be commitments you did not expect, and there will not be enough money to go around.

Things are likely to grow infinitely worse. Each contraction, as it comes, will be worse than the one before. And then they start coming stronger and faster.

What is happening? Dilation is beginning to take place, because the baby cannot come out until the birth canal is ready.

A woman goes through a very difficult stage now and it is the part of childbirth in which she works the hardest. In the end she is likely to be totally exhausted.

Get ready for it. You have waited so long for the manifestation of what you have trusted God for.

You have trusted Him and built up your faith. You have stood firm and waited on the Lord and meditated on the Word. You have spoken about it, planned for it and done everything necessary.

Now comes the crunch. Now comes the time when it is all going to happen, but it is going to happen with pressure.

If you are trusting for financial prosperity then it has to come through the god of this world, and he is going to put pressure on you to try and stop it. You will have to start working very hard and fighting very hard.

You will have to start pushing very hard and confessing the Word harder than you ever have before. You will be praying more and standing on the Word more than you have ever done before.

You will be in a fight; a battle to prepare the ground for that thing to be manifested and to come into the earth. Get ready for it because it is going to happen. You will have to fight that fight.

The Transition Stage

It is going to pull every resource you have until you reach a point of exhaustion, where you do not know whether you can go on. But then suddenly you will reach the point of transition.

I have never been there, so I can only tell you what I have been told, but I understand that transition is the end of labor. It is the end of dilation; a point at which everything suddenly stops.

It is a moment when everything stands poised and ready to go but there is no movement or anything. Nothing is happening, and at that point a woman is told not to push. She is told,

"Wait; it is not the time yet."

The inclination is to think,

"Let's go for it. Let's push and give birth."

Because you have been fighting so hard, trusting God and standing on His Word, confessing and speaking it forth into the earth, you think that now is the time to fight. No it is not. Now is the time to wait.

Now is the only time in the entire birth process where you must wait. You must let go and do absolutely nothing. It is that period in which you are waiting for the final manifestation to come forth.

The Birth Experience

Finally after the transition comes what I understand is the most pleasant part of the birth. It is when the baby is pushed out. It is finally over. It is ready.

You have been through the whole process. You have been through the suffering of labor, through the dilation and transition. And now suddenly here it comes.

Now is the time to push and to shove and to bring that baby into the earth. Now is the time to birth into the earth what you have believed for and have been expecting and waiting for, for so long.

The actual process is quick, and unless there are complications in the birth it simply slides through and out comes the head. You cannot stop it now. There is nothing in the world that can stop it now.

It is ready to go. You do not even need to make any effort. Just wait and it will happen. It will just pour forth and a beautiful baby will come into the world.

The head will usually appear first, and once the head has appeared it is simply a matter of pulling the rest of the baby out. You will finally have in the earth the thing you have been waiting for.

Cutting the Cord

Of course it is not quite over yet is it? You still need to cut the umbilical cord.

The child has arrived. It is separated from the mother and the womb is not needed anymore. You have to cut the cord and then wait for the afterbirth to come out. Only then is the birth process complete.

The cutting of the cord and removal of the afterbirth are very significant parts of the process where a spiritual birthing is concerned. They can be likened very much to what I said before concerning the raising of Lazarus.

As Lazarus came to life and stood at the mouth of the tomb, he was still all bound up in grave clothes.

Jesus said, "Now go and loose him."

If they had not loosed him he would have died again. There must be an additional process of loosing into the earth what you have birthed once it manifests.

This can be the most critical period of the baby's life. At that point the baby can die if you do not take care of it properly.

At that very point the life that you have anticipated for the entire nine months can be snuffed away. If you cut that cord wrong it will bleed to death. It has to be done right.

I have seen people exercising their faith and trusting God. You may have trusted God for financial provision and somebody phones you up and says,

"I have been led of the Lord to give you such and such an amount."

You say, "Praise God, that's what I have been believing for. Hallelujah! Thank You Lord, I have my money."

You get so excited that you start making your plans. But you wait and the money does not come. You wait and begin to wonder if the person has not changed their mind.

Maybe they hit a snag. Maybe there was a problem in the bank. Maybe they made a mistake and they had less money than they thought they had.

Be careful because right at that very point you could lose it. Satan is not going to let you go. He is not going to give it up lightly. He is going to fight you every step of the way.

Don't ever let go of your faith and your commitment. Don't ever let go once you see the manifestation. Follow it through and release into the earth what God has provided.

You need to make sure that it is fully in your hands, has been fully birthed and is available to you, because the enemy will challenge you.

When your healing manifests Satan will question it. He will bring symptoms back again to make you think that you were never healed.

You have to release it. You have to make sure that it is not taken away from you.

And so finally the child is born. The process is over. You can start to rest and you can enjoy what you have waited for.

It has been such a long wait and you have made such an effort for it. Now you can enjoy the results of your faith, hope and love.

Summary of Spiritual Birthing

That is how God wants us to walk in blessing. He wants us to give birth to the things that He has given us - every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

You will have to go through that whole process. You will have to make a decision of what it is that you want from God.

You will have to get into the Word and cause faith to be born in your heart, for you to know that you know that God has given you what you have asked for.

Once you know that He has given it to you in the heavenly realm it simply needs to be transmuted down.

You know that you need to oppose the evil one; that you must build a spiritual template for the power to come forth. All of these things are involved in this process of incubation and preparing for birth.

You must expect the warfare that will take place at the end as you come into conflict with the powers of darkness.

They will question you and fight you all the way until that birth manifests in the earth; until finally you receive in your hands the thing that you have believed the Lord for.

Start Small

As I said earlier, it is going to take a different incubation period according to what you ask for. If you are not prepared to make the effort to go through a five year incubation period then do not ask for an elephant.

Start with something small. Start to exercise your faith and trust God for things that you are able to believe for.

Start by asking 'faith sized' requests. As you do this you will become more encouraged and you will begin to say,

"Hey that has never happened to me before. I used to pray and sit and hope and wait. I would only occasionally have an answer to prayer; probably purely by coincidence. But now at last I am finding that I can purposefully use my faith, hope and love.

After I use them I see results. I can actually see God providing the very thing that I set my heart to receive. Hey it works!"

If you have been able to go through a one week incubation period then you should be able to build up to going through a longer one and a longer one. Then you will be able to persevere and believe for bigger things.

Example of George Mueller

I remember reading about George Mueller, a great man of faith from way back who built orphanages and supported thousands of orphans purely by faith. He prayed in every cent that went through his hands.

At first he started out praying for God to give him enough finance to help just one or two little orphans.

Eventually this grew into a larger number of orphans. It grew into having a house for orphans and then several houses, and finally an entire complex.

Eventually millions went through his hands. He reached a stage where his faith was so strong that he could believe God daily for finance to support all the orphanages that he had set up.

George Mueller did not start out that way. He did not have that kind of faith and trust in God when he first started it.

He only had enough faith for one or two little orphans. Yet as he trusted for those one or two little orphans, his faith was increased to trust for 10, then 20, then 100 and 1 000.

Do not go asking God for a million dollars if you cannot believe for ten. Start where you are at. Start giving birth to what you are capable of.

As you begin to build and grow in exercising your faith, you will find that you will receive the ability and resources in knowledge of the Word and spiritual power to create greater things in the Lord.

You can begin to trust God for greater things to take place in your life.

Do not forget that each birth experience is going to involve a time of travail. This will get worse the longer your incubation period is. The labor is going to be more intense for the bigger things that you trust God for.

But as you grow from strength to strength; as you grow in Him and in faith, hope and love, you will be able to trust God for bigger things.

You will rise up and start to move into all that the Lord has for you in a way that you never have before.

Spiritual birthing is as simple a process as natural birthing, but yet it is also as complicated as natural birthing.

If you cannot remember all the principles that we have been sharing, then try thinking about all the procedures that are involved in a natural birth.

Write them down and tick them off. Ask yourself,

"Have I done that one, that one and that one? Have I been doing this thing the right way?

What's happening to me here? Why do I have this pain and why is everything going wrong? I thought God was going to provide.

Oh dear, could these be the contractions? Could these be the labor pains? Wow, then I'm going to get excited. The baby is on its way.

Glory, labor has started. I don't care if I have to suffer because the baby is on its way. The time of waiting is over."

Then instead of giving up in despair you will begin to attack. You will follow through and see it all come into place for you. Then you will see the blessings of God begin to manifest themselves in your life.
