God had a solution to this problem of Satan having access to our bodies to destroy them. It is a problem that has plagued mankind for so long, but His solution was God becoming man.

His solution was a new Adam - Jesus the last Adam. Jesus overcame sickness and disease, not only in His body, but He overcame it in others.

He overcame that enemy. It was the major part of His ministry and Jesus overcame the curse.

He said, "You don't have to worry anymore about the thief. I've come to give you life, and I have come to give you life more abundantly.

I have come to give you a cure-all that will deal with every sickness and disease. You don't have to worry about what kind of antibiotic or medical treatment to use here because I have a cure-all."

It is really quite easy. It can be so complicated with medicines, can't it?

There are new medicines coming out all the time to treat different diseases, and everyone has to learn what medicine to use for what. They keep trying out new ones and making you into guinea pigs.

But Jesus came, and just His very birth and incarnation already brought a solution, because here was a man who never suffered sickness and disease. Here was a body that was free of sickness and disease.

Do you realize that we are partakers of that body, of His flesh and of His bone?

Do you realize that we are in Christ; that we are the body of Christ, and His body is not subject to sickness and disease? It is full of life, and we do not have to be subject to sickness and disease, but we can also be full of life.

Jesus the Redeemer

Jesus did a lot more than being born and overcoming it in His own body. Jesus won back what Adam had lost and He took the curse for us.

In Galatians 4 it tells us,

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

Well what is the curse? Go and read it there in Deuteronomy 28. Most of the curse is sickness, pain and suffering. Jesus has redeemed us from it. He has bought us back and we do not have to be subject to that curse anymore.

Peter tells us the same thing in 1 Peter 2:24 when he says,

Who his own self bore our sins in his own body on the tree.

Jesus bore our sins, and in fact He did a lot more than just bear our sins. He bore our sicknesses and diseases.

How do I know that? Because Peter was quoting from Isaiah 53 which says the exact same thing. It says He bore our sicknesses and our pains in His body.

The Bible says that Jesus became sick for us so that we do not have to be sick anymore. Jesus atoned and bought us back.

He said, "Okay Satan load up. Take all of your ammo and shoot it here."

Jesus Overcame Death

Satan fired his whole load at Jesus. He has nothing left. He cannot fire anything more at Jesus because he fired the biggest shot that He had.

Death and sickness cannot touch Christ anymore, because He rose from the dead triumphant. Satan has nothing left to throw at Christ. He used everything he had but it was not enough. Jesus rose from the dead triumphant.

We are now in Him, we are of His body and we are in Christ. And Satan has no more shots left to shoot because we are in Christ. In Him we are the body of Christ. He has no authority because Jesus overcame Satan in His death.

Jesus also overcame Satan and He overcame sickness and disease in His resurrection. This was because when He rose from the dead His body was purged.

He overcame the power of death and took it out of Satan's hands. He arose with the keys of death and of Hades. He has the keys in His hands.

And now that life is the abundant life which will overcome the enemy - the thief that comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. The life that He came to give more abundantly is now available to us because Jesus is alive.

The Scripture says in Romans 5:10,

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

The Greek word for saved is sozo. This means not only salvation, but healing and deliverance and everything that goes with salvation.

We are healed by His life would be an accurate translation. Jesus, having risen from the dead and having conquered sickness and disease and death, can now impart that same life and power into us to overcome.

Power to Heal

Jesus did more than that to overcome sickness and disease though. He not only partook of human flesh in order to conquer sin and sickness in the flesh.

He not only bought back, paid for our sickness and suffered it on our behalf, but Jesus arose and ascended. That gives us one step more, because Jesus ascended that He may send down power to heal.

What did He say to His disciples? In John 14:12 he says,

Most assuredly, I say to you, He that believes in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go to my Father.

Jesus said, "You saw me heal, overcome sickness and disease, and you saw me rise from the dead."

He breathed into them and said,

"Receive the Holy Spirit. I am sending you the promise of the Father and I'm going to give you the same power to go and conquer sickness and disease that I had."

It is the same power that He gave them at the Great Commission. When Jesus appeared to them after the resurrection He said,

Peace be to you. As my Father has sent me even so I am sending you.

Then when He had said this, He breathed into them and said,

Receive the Holy Spirit.

He said, "The Father sent me to go out and to heal, and to conquer sickness, disease and death. Now I am sending you to go and do the same."

Jesus overcame Satan and took away the power that he had to be the destroyer. Jesus has sent His Spirit to come down upon us, so that we can now go out into this dark world that does not know Him.

We can go to people who are still in bondage to Satan and sickness and disease. We can take that healing power and go and set the captive free.

We can speak life and raise people up. And we can deliver them from their pain and suffering, even as Jesus did when He walked the earth.

He said, "You are going to do just what I did. You will be able to do the same thing because I'm giving you the power to do it now."

Accept Jesus' Life

What can we do now concerning sickness and disease?

The first thing we need to do is accept the life that Jesus has to offer. His life is light and love, and that life is what is going to overcome Satan's destruction theft and strife.

He puts those things into our body doesn't he? He puts destruction in to destroy the body. He steals our health from us, and steals our strength and ability to function physically the way we should.

He even sets our body up in strife against itself so that the autoimmune system begins to fight itself.

A lot of the major sicknesses and diseases that they cannot cure are actually caused by imbalances in the autoimmune system.

This is where the body begins to attack itself. It is the spirit of strife, and Satan is bringing a curse into the lives of men and women to destroy their bodies.

But you see when we enter into Christ we enter into the benefits of His Covenant. We enter into Him, into Blood Covenant relationship with Almighty God, and we are in Covenant through the blood of the Lamb.

When we come to break communion together we remember the fact that Jesus' body was broken for us. His blood was shed for us, and He died and took our sickness in His own body and set us free.

And now because he has been raised from the dead, we are entitled to everything that He has. Today Jesus is not sick. He may have the marks in His hands and feet to prove that He suffered, but He is not suffering anymore.

His body is well, it is whole and it is healthy. We can overcome the curse in Him now because we have authority in the name of Jesus.

The Good News

We can now also overcome it in others because,

At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth.

We have the name of Jesus. What did Jesus say when He sent His disciples out to go and preach the good news? We see it in Mark 16:15 to 18.

And he said to them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel (the good news) to every creature. He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that does not believe shall be condemned. And these signs shall follow those that believe; In my name they shall cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Everything that can cause death, pain, sickness and disease can be overcome through faith in Him. These signs will follow those who believe. The Scripture says,

And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the Word with signs following.

They went out and proclaimed the good news and they said,

"Hey, you do not have to be sick anymore."

I know the gospel is the gospel of salvation from sin, but I am speaking about healing here, and healing is part and parcel of salvation.

It is part of the good news. The good news is you do not have to remain in sickness and disease anymore. You can come and be set free by the life of the Lord Jesus Christ and the power of God that is available to you. That is good news.

It is bad news when you are told,

"I'm sorry, your problem is caused by an unknown virus. It's a new strain that we have not seen before. We haven't isolated it yet, and we do not have any treatment for it."

As if they had a treatment for any other virus!

Overcome in Christ

It is bad news when your problem is physical. You can take it even further. What about deformity or malformation? Everything that falls under the area of sickness and disease is part of a curse.

It is part of a demonic spiritual power being involved in the physical creation in your body to prevent your body from being what it should be.

It is designed to prevent it from walking in the health that it should be. It is the powers of darkness that are at work in your body.

If you are to overcome, you need to overcome the powers of darkness and the curse that is in your body. You need to overcome the destruction, theft and strife that is taking place in your body.

Only as you overcome that enemy can you remove whatever is causing the disease in the first place. You can do that in Christ. You can do that in the Lord Jesus, in the authority that there is in His name.

You say, "But I don't have the gift of healing to be able to heal people."

You have the authority in the name of Jesus to stop the thing that is killing them. The body can heal itself if you will let it.

If you will remove the power that is destroying and stopping the body from healing itself, then it is free to continue its healing process.

You have removed the blockages. You have taken them out of the way, and you have the authority to do that in Jesus.

You have the authority in His name to speak words of life, to shine His light in the darkness, and to counteract a curse with a blessing.

You can release a spirit of restoration in place of a spirit of destruction, a spirit of provision in place of a spirit of theft, and a spirit of harmony in place of a spirit of strife.

All you need to do as you minister to someone who is battling with sickness, disease and physical suffering, is to deal with the cause of the sickness and disease. Then you can declare a solution to it.

It is not complicated. It is a case of getting rid of the darkness and putting light in its place.

So as you come to minister to somebody who is suffering, you need to recognize that this person is under attack from the destroyer. He or she is not under attack from a physical source or from his genes.

You have authority in the name of Jesus, and at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow. You are in Christ, and His name is in you and you are in His name.

You are a Christian. You are part of Him, and when you speak you speak out as part of the body of Christ. You speak in His authority.

You can speak to that force of darkness that is at work in somebody and you can say,

"Spirit of destruction I resist you and you will leave now. You will bow to the name of Jesus."
