Feeding Your Soul


That then is physical health in a nutshell. But how about health of the soul or 'soulical' health?

There is feeding involved here too because you feed your soul all the time. You are feeding your mind, but what are you feeding it with? You are hopefully feeding it with good things.

How do you do that? By the things you watch, by the things you listen to, and by the things you read.

Your mind is like a sponge. It just soaks up knowledge all the time. You don't even need to actively try to do that, because you gain knowledge and different inputs all the time.

Just try to make sure that as with your food, you don't live on junk. Make sure you don't spend all your time feeding the junk in. Try and feed more good stuff in than bad stuff.

Create Positive Emotions


You need to stir your emotions positively. How do you do that?

One of the best ways is through interaction with other human beings. This means having social activities which make us feel good and produce good emotions in us.

Then if you haven't got a sense of humor, learn to develop it. Learn to laugh a little bit more.

It is easy to see this in Expressives. They have smile lines everywhere. The Analyticals are just as easy to see. You wonder whether they have ever smiled before. But you can make them smile, and you can make yourself smile.

Try and see the funny things in life. Try and be like Peter Pan and think a few happy thoughts.

We are often so busy with work. The driver just does work, work, work. But if you are a driver, you need to take time as they say in the classics, to smell the roses. Take time to enjoy life and to encourage good feelings.

But you say, "No, we need to get the job done!"

The job can just wait for a little bit. Take some time out. It will feed your emotions in a good way. Your emotions are amongst the most powerful forces in your soul to really get you out there and accomplishing things.

Learn to have some fun and to let your hair down. Some of us have difficulty doing that in the natural, but we can at least do it in our souls.

Let your hair down and have a bit of fun. Do stupid things that are irrational and illogical. Act like an idiot sometimes and learn to laugh at yourself. It is easy to laugh at other people but learn to laugh at yourself. It will do your soul good.

Exercise Your Willpower


The next thing you must do is learn to exercise your willpower a little bit. Sometimes it helps to get around people who have good habits and then pick some habits up from them.

Sometimes the people we hang around with have bad habits and we pick those up instead. So, watch out who you hang out with.

Try to also develop new abilities. It will take an effort to do something that you couldn't do before. It will take a lot of effort to form new habits. You must also deal with those bad habits that you have and try to overcome them.

All these things are involved in feeding and exercising our souls. What it will do is produce a healthy soul. When you have a healthy soul, it will have a greater capability and a greater efficiency.

You now have a machine that at least has a healthy body and a healthy soul. That already makes you more than twice as efficient as what you were before.

I don't care how fit you are physically. I don't care whether you can run a marathon or climb a mountain. If your soul is sick you are inefficient.

Pray in Tongues


We come now to the spirit. What should we feed our spirit and how should we exercise it? This one is kind of hard isn't it?

How do you develop your spirit? Here is a simple one. You need to pray in tongues often. The Scripture says,

He that speaks in an unknown tongue builds himself up.

If you want to build your spiritual muscles, speak in tongues a lot. If I am on my own riding in the car, I usually need to hide my mouth if somebody is next to me because they think I am talking to myself.

I am speaking in tongues or singing in tongues. I am just letting rip. So, don't make excuses and say,

"I never have time to sit and speak in tongues."

You have plenty of times to speak in tongues. You can do it under your breath while you are at work.

How long do you speak in tongues at a time? Have you ever timed yourself? You need to make a note of that time. Pray in tongues and time yourself. Find out just how long that time really is.

If you think you have prayed in tongues for five minutes, you would be amazed at how long five minutes is. Most of us don't even pray in tongues for a minute. We pray for 30 seconds maybe and that is a lot.

Well if you are not exercising much you are not going to build your muscles. And if you are not speaking in tongues a lot you are not going to develop your spiritual muscles.

Try and combine it with speaking some Scriptures out loud. I like to alternate the two. I like to walk up and down and just quote Scriptures. I say,

"If you remain in me and my rhema words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. The daughter of Tyre will be there with a gift; the rich among the people will ask you for a favor."

Then I speak in tongues for a bit and alternate between the two repeatedly. Try walking around the yard or even in your house. Just do it for a bit. You will be amazed at how you will begin to feel the power building up inside you.

Journal, Worship and Praise


You need to journal often. Talk to the Lord and listen for His reply. Get wisdom, teaching and direction from Him. It is a good exercise for your spirit.

You should also worship and praise often. Listen to some good music and sing with it. Better still, learn to play an instrument and sing and play.

If you can't do that, just sing in tongues. Practice it and make up your own songs. It is wonderful.

You don't need to worry about the words because you don't even know what you are saying. You can also steer the melody anywhere you want it to go. You can even rap in the Spirit. No matter what your music style is, just do it.

Make Health Your Priority


You need to write down a daily plan for all these things. You need to list the things you can do every day, and you need to start doing them right away.

Once those things become a habit, then look for some more things. Over time you will find you can add new things to the list.

Work first on your health. Give that a priority. Why? Because when you are healthy it is easier to gain wealth. Also, when you are healthy it is easier to develop relationships. It will give you more energy and power.

The Lord recently provided for us to get a treadmill. When we bought it at the shop, the woman looked at me and said,

"Yeah, just another clothes hanger."

I said, "No, the Lord told me to get this so I can keep fit."

The rest of the team have really made good use of it. I have so much to do. I get out of bed and I am already working. Sometimes I am working from bed already. Before I know it, Daphne is saying,

"What do you want for lunch?"

I say, "It is lunch time already!"

After I have eaten lunch, I like an afternoon sleep because I am old. And when I have finished sleeping, it is time for supper and I think,

"You know I really meant to get on that treadmill today."

Come on, have you been there? You see you will need to plan it, and you will need to give health a priority over your work, especially if you are a workaholic like I can be at times.

If you are a driver you always have a problem with this. Give your health a priority. You will get more energy and power.

Do it Today


Here is the big thing. Do not say,

"I am going to start tomorrow."

Because when tomorrow arrives, tomorrow is today. Tomorrow never arrives, so you must do it now.

You might say, "The day is half gone. It is a bit late to start today."

No, there are quite a few hours left, so write down your plan for today and start doing it.

You might say to me,

"I already planned today."

"What were you planning for the rest of today?"

"I was just going to chill."

That is not a plan. Yes, you must plan your chill times. It is important. You must have chill times otherwise you will die. But you see you must plan them and fit them into the right priority level.

You might say, "I will chill. And when I am finished chilling, if I feel like working, I will work."

Guess what you are not going to do?
