Learn from the Lord

You need to learn from the Lord via your spirit. You need to listen to His voice daily by journaling. If you don't know how to journal, we will teach you how. But I'm sure most of you know how to do that by now.

You need to confess and meditate on the Scriptures. You also need to learn from your dreams. These are all different ways that God can give you input from your spirit.

If you combine all these things together, you will become more efficient and better. And you will have a better chance of creating more wealth.

As you get these things write them down. Combine them all together and find ways of using them to create wealth.

Don't sit and bemoan your luck in life, that you were born poor, were born into a poor family and were born into a poor country. Don't make excuses.

Some of the big bodybuilders out there were born as little weaklings.

They said, "I don't want this. I'm going to do something to change it."

Then they built themselves. Some of the wealthiest people out there are people who were born in absolute poverty. But you don't need to stay there.

Write Down and Review Your Plans

Write it all down or you will forget it. Then review what you wrote so you don't forget it. Then as God gives you further revelation add that to it and build it up, until you have a wealth of resources to create wealth.

But don't be in too much of a hurry to start using it, because timing is important. You need to think through each plan before you act.

Don't go off half-cocked as we say. Because if you half cock the gun and pull the trigger, it will go poof and the bullet is not going to go off.

Make sure you get well prepared. Test it before you go full out. And see if you need to make some modifications before you launch your plan.

Keep Going

Don't give up too quickly if it doesn't work the first time.

When we were totally reliant on the Internet, we did our best to send things out that would bring results. I would spend hours crafting an email to send to people and I thought,

"This is just going to wow everybody out there. It is so awesome!"

Then I sent it out and waited for the responses. I was lucky if someone wrote back and said,

"Amen."

Have you ever tried this on Facebook? You post an awesome article and 10 people say,

"Amen."

I don't want any amen's. Rather say nothing please. If you don't have something more than 'amen' to say, just please shut up, because that doesn't motivate me. It just says,

"That was a pretty mediocre article. I'll be nice to you and humor you by saying amen."

Please don't ever post amen on my stuff! I am warning you now. It can be very discouraging.

We had to face this for many years before we started to see results. But sometimes you sow a seed that takes a long time to grow.

When I was in sales, I realized that if I saw a customer they didn't always buy. But two years from now they may buy. You need to keep at it. You need to persevere.

Set a Daily Schedule

You must also follow it through. Research and test different ways to make it work best. Stick with it and give it time to work. And if it works, add it to your daily schedule.

You might say, "Daily schedule; what's that?"

The Lord spoke to me recently about setting a daily schedule and working to a more scheduled life. I hate schedules. I just get up in the morning and say,

"Let's see what comes. I'm going to be led and just do whatever I feel led to do."

Most of the time that is eating, sleeping and doing unproductive things. That is mostly what I find myself led to do.

Well I decided to go out and buy myself one of those day timer books. I have never used one in my life before. It is like a diary where you write down all your plans. I was going to get my life in order and get it scheduled.

The first day I started out with a bang. The second day it went poof and the third day it was gone. Because you see it was not a habit in my life.

Well the Lord is kicking my butt a little bit. I tried things and they just didn't go well. I complained to my wife and said,

"Every time I really want to get going, it's like something side swipes me."

Then the Lord said,

"You didn't do what I told you to do did you?"

When I sat down to prepare this teaching, He put the pressure on me. You see all these things I am sharing with you I am talking to me about just as much as to you.

So, don't think I am being a great hero here, but I am going to make it work. And if you want to succeed, you will also need to make it work.

Attitudes to Consider

There are some attitudes that go with making wealth. You need to plan what you will do with the increased wealth. You see wealth helps you to accomplish great things.

This one is so subtle, but do not see wealth as a reward for all the hard work and now you can enjoy it. It will be gone faster than you can blink an eye.

Wealth should never be your goal. Wealth only helps you to reach your goals. So, don't make getting wealth your goal because you won't maintain that. It doesn't have the power to excite you. You will end up just saying,

"Oh, what the heck. Let me just do my job and get paid at the end of the month."

Write down all the main reasons that you want more wealth. Think it through. Why do you want more money? Well who wouldn't want more money?

If you had more money, how would it change your life? What would you do with it?

You might say, "I would buy the car I have been wanting. I would buy the house I have been wanting, and those things."

Okay that is a starting point. But are you telling me you are not planning to accumulate wealth? Are you just planning to spend it as fast as what it comes in? If so, you will stay poor.

Plan How to Invest Wealth

Always keep in mind the reasons that you want to accumulate wealth. Think beyond just accumulating wealth and think about different ways of investing the wealth that you get. Find the best way to invest that which will give you the best returns.

Perhaps you say,

"I am not a financial consultant type of person. I don't want to think about how much money I am going to put in the bank at this interest rate."

If you have read the second book in The New Way of Blessing series, I have a whole chapter called Walking in Prosperity, in which I addressed the subject in some detail. So, I am not going to talk about that now, but go and read it.

I shared there that every time you spend money you are investing it. And I shared that each investment gives a different return.

You might say, "Wouldn't it be great to go out to dinner today? I'm just in the mood for some nice food from that favorite restaurant of ours. Enough money came in, so let's go and have a super meal."

That is an investment isn't it? It will give you an awesome return that will last for about an hour, then it is over.

Isn't it amazing how we agonize over things that could be useful? You might say,

"I really need a new iPad. I could just do so much more with it, and it would really help me in my work and my ministry. But do you know what those things cost? Man, that is a lot of money!"

But it is lunch time and your stomach is rumbling. You don't go to the restaurant and say,

"What is the cheapest food you have?"

You look at your favorite menu item and think,

"What the heck; let's just get it and enjoy it. The Lord provided the money. Let's do it."

Sit down and budget some time how much money you spend on your body and on food. It would shock you.

You see there are better ways of investing. You could invest in an object that you can use repeatedly, and you will get a return on that for many years. As I shared in that chapter, ultimately your best investment is something that is a reproducing asset.

In the old days they used to invest in sheep, goats and cattle. If you have some good animals and they reproduce, they produce babies and your flocks will grow.

Today we have investments and other options. But ultimately the best investment is when you invest into people. Because when you invest into people, they will take it. They will grow and they will accomplish something in this world. But as I said, I covered that in some detail in that chapter.

Making vs. Spending Money

Here is what you must always keep in mind. Accumulation of wealth and spending of wealth must always be totally independent of each other. You must not tie them together.

Money should come in faster than what it goes out. If it doesn't you will stay poor. If it goes out as fast or faster than what it comes in, you will never be wealthy. That is the bottom line.

So how do we make this happen? Well let's make it come in faster shall we. That is one way.

The other way is to stop how fast it goes out. Slow down or decrease the output. That is the place you should start, because it is in your hands right now.

Let me tell you what will happen if it comes in faster. You will spend it faster. You will say,

"We couldn't afford that before but now we can. Let's get it."

Eventually your debts are like a scale that perfectly equals your income. You have them nicely in balance and you say,

"I don't overcommit myself. I have only committed myself to what we can afford. I get this amount in and this much goes out. We have enough to get by."

But what would happen if you lost your job tomorrow? You would be in deep trouble, because now the scale would swing to the negative side.

99 percent of us live that way. I lived that way for years. It was only during our last seminar where the Lord addressed in me my bad habits and my need to spend. For the first time then I finally started to leave money in the bank long enough that it could stay in savings.

Before then I thought it was fleshly to save because we were not trusting the Lord. That sounds very spiritual doesn't it?

You might say, "When you save money you are not trusting the Lord. You are just trusting in yourself."

The enemy is subtle. But you are always in a position where he can put pressure on you and destroy you. So, start working on what goes out. Then when more comes in, it will start to accumulate, and you will get wealthy.

Do Not Walk in the Flesh

You need to deal with the flesh. If your body is ruling, you will walk in the flesh and it will stop you from living the abundant life. It will absolutely stop you from being wealthy.

You see when you walk in the Spirit, you hold back the influences that create poverty. Accumulating wealth then just becomes the natural result of everything that you do.

How do you walk in the Spirit? Again, I have a whole series called The School of Blessing.

If you weren't at that seminar you should get it. I covered walking in the Spirit and walking in the flesh in a lot of detail and showed how we can live a life of blessing.
