Lecture 1
I'm afraid it's just one of the facts of life, but it's not the way God planned it. See, we were created to have fellowship with other human beings. Satan doesn't want us to enjoy this blessing of the Lord.
God designed us for interaction. When he first made Adam, he gave him everything that one could possibly want in this life. He lived in the most beautiful place.
You've had a house of your dreams, Adam had it. If you've ever had a place where you'd like to live, Adam was living in it. He had everything that this world had to offer.
All the wealth and the riches. There wasn't much more that you could get. In fact, there was nothing more that one would want in this life that Adam didn't have.
But he wasn't happy. He wasn't fulfilled. Because you see, being a loner does not produce a happy life.
If you're the kind of person who likes to do things on your own, to be on your own, just to get away from people and do your own thing, perhaps it's a good escape from the problems. But it's not going to lead to happiness. True happiness is only accomplished through interaction with other human beings.
It's the way God made us to be. Social interaction is an essential part of life. The huge growth of the social media on the internet right now is proof of that.
We cannot live without social interaction with other human beings. So God created another human being for Adam. And he made Eve.
Now Adam had a life partner. Another human being that he could be intimate with and interact with. And at last, fulfillment and true happiness came.
Adam was no longer unhappy. He had now everything this world had to offer, and he had a person who he could be close to and who he could enjoy. Social interaction, folks, is an essential part of human happiness.
And if you are not having this blessing in your life, you can pretend to be happy, but don't kid yourself. You're not happy. You're unfulfilled.
Well, it's wonderful to have a life partner, but God gave even more than that, because as they came together, they began to produce an offspring. And this brought an extra blessing. And those who have been married and had children understand the pleasure and the blessing that it is to see yourself reproduced, to see the offspring of your own body coming forth.
Having children is a blessing from the Lord. Well, some people, they may disagree. They may say, the worst thing I ever did was to have kids.
Well, you know, the psalmist said in Psalm 127, As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of one's youth. Happy is the man that has his quiver full of them. They will not be ashamed.
They will speak with the enemies in the gates. It's a wonderful thing to have a family and to have children. It's the blessing of the Lord, and it's meant to be a blessing, and it's meant to be something that we enjoy.
But we have an enemy, don't we? And he doesn't want us to enjoy any of the blessings that God has given us. Satan, from the beginning, thought about destroying this blessing by attacking relationships. He began by attacking relationships.
Now, where do our main relationships take place? They take place in a context that the scripture calls God's chains of command. You see, for human society to function efficiently, there has to be a kind of a hierarchy. There have to be leaders and followers.
There have to be decision makers and those who obey the decisions that are made. And so God has set these chains of command, these orders of hierarchy, in various parts of life. And it starts in the home.
It leads to the workplace. It exists in government. And it exists in the church of God.
There's always somebody in higher authority and somebody below. Because God, who's the ultimate origin of all authority, delegates his authority downwards to human beings. And they carry that authority and assert that authority over those that are below them.
And if everybody does it right, there's actually harmony, there's structure. Everybody knows their place and everything goes great. Each person has a role to fulfill.
And as they fulfill that role, there is order and there is happiness. Now, when God created Eve from the beginning, it was clear that she was subject to her husband. That Adam was the head.
That's why God made him first. And there was harmony while they worked in that relationship. It wasn't a relationship of domination, but a relationship of understanding each person's roles.
Now, problems begin to take place in the chains of command. And when those problems begin to take place, our relationships with one another are affected. And the harmony and the blessing that God created for us to have in interaction with other human beings is stolen from us.
How does it take place? Well, it starts when those who are higher fail to lead correctly. It starts when those who are below fail to submit correctly. When those who are in leadership fail to give a clear covering of protection over those below them, there's an open door to attack.
When those who are below authority rebel against that authority, they open a door for the enemy to attack. This is how Satan began with Adam and Eve. Now, when we first read the story of the four in the garden and their temptation of Eve, we know that Satan ultimately wanted to get Adam to sin.
Because Adam was the federal head of the human race. God had given Adam authority over the earth. Now, for Satan to get to Adam, he used human relationships.
He used the chain of command. And so, when Satan came to tempt Eve in the beginning, although it looked like he was getting her to rebel against God, which of course he was, because God is the ultimate authority, but he was actually getting her to rebel against all authority that was over her. And the immediate authority that was over her was her husband.
It was Adam. Adam had given Eve an instruction that God had given to him. Eve was not there when God originally created Adam, put him in the garden, and said, Adam, you can eat of all the trees except for that one.
Don't you dare touch it. God told that to Adam, not to Eve. Adam then passed that instruction as God's delegated authority in the earth.
He passed that instruction on to his wife and warned her. And so, when Satan came to tempt Eve and said, did God really say that? Eve immediately quoted Adam. And when Satan told her that this was nonsense, he was getting her to not only rebel against the original instruction from God, he was getting her to disobey her husband.
That was the first move in destroying God's chain of command in the home. And then the next step was even worse. And this is what happens when a chain of command is violated.
When the one who is below rebels against the authority that is above. It's bad enough. But what ultimately happens is the one below tries to rise up and take over.
Now, where did that originate? It originated back in eternity past, where one who was known as Lucifer, the son of the morning, one of the three chief archangels in heaven, one who was below the ultimate authority, God, rebelled against God. He rebelled against God and said, I'm not going to submit to your authority anymore. I'm going to rise up and I'm going to become God.
Now, Satan injects that same thing into human society. And that's what he did right back here. He got Eve to rebel against Adam and rise above him.
So the first thing she did is she went to Adam. After she'd eaten of the fruit, she said, yeah, eat of this fruit. It's great.
You know what poor Adam did? He submitted to his beautiful wife and ate of the fruit. And the moment he did that, there was a reversal in roles and Eve became the authority instead of Adam. And the moment she did that, she opened the door wide for Satan to come into this world to take over and to destroy.
Satan seeks to destroy the chain of command by bringing rebellion and a reversal of roles. And you will see this in every area of society where anarchy begins to take place as those who are under authority rebel against that authority and try to usurp that authority and take it over. When that happens, there is chaos.
Now, where's the main source of all these conflicts that we see in this world? It starts in the place that Satan first attacked. It starts in the home. It always starts in the home.
A bad home life affects our work life, our relationship in society and to government, and our relationships in the church. When I come to ministering to people with problems, especially in relationships, I find that the place I have to start is to go back into the home and find out what happened there. Because what took place in the home is ultimately the source of what we see in society.
And that is why the home is always the main target of the enemy. If he can destroy the home structure, he can cause the whole of society to unravel. Satan's kingdom is one of confusion.
Well, it's not really a kingdom. It's a principality because he's not a king. He's only a prince.
But Satan rules over those who are under him with a rod of iron. He doesn't trust them because he knows that they're just like him. He's not going to allow them any leeway whatsoever to try and usurp his authority.
Every one of his demons is kept in fear and a threat. When he tries to duplicate his realm in this world, you see the same thing. You see confusion.
You see dominating authority. You see people taking autocratic control and trying to exalt themselves and totally rejecting God's order. It all starts in the home, folks.
It all starts in the home. If you've had any problems in relationships with people, stop blaming the people. Go look at yourself.
Go back to your home experience. And I'll guarantee you had problems back there already. And those problems now will continue to manifest themselves in the rest of your life.
It's a difficult situation. All of us face this. That's why we have conflicts with people.
Because we have failed to find our place in God's order. And if we found our place and each person was happy and content in where God had put them, there would be no conflicts, there would be no unhappiness, there would be no stresses, there would be no pressures. God has placed authorities to actually carry some of the pressures so that we don't have to carry them.
When you rebel against that authority, you actually take over the pressures that that authority was carrying. And you actually weren't geared to handle them yet. You weren't qualified to handle them yet because you were not yet delegated that authority.
But at the root of all of this is sin. At the root of all of it was when Eve disobeyed the commandment of God and ate of the forbidden fruits. Therefore we need something to overcome this powerful force that's been released in our lives, which the scripture calls the flesh.
The selfishness of the flesh. The seed of sin that has come from that original rebellion, it gets passed down to us and we grow up in and we partake of it ourselves. Darkness has entered our lives.
The only way we can get rid of that darkness is to bring the light. There is only one way to overcome the problems of human society. Our man has tried to solve these things himself.
People have decided to get together and try and solve the problems of life. The human solutions don't work. Because the human solutions firstly are based on compromise.
We will compromise to make everybody happy. We will give you what you want so that you won't be stressed anymore and you won't give us any problems. We will, as Adam did, submit rather to my wife than have a conflict situation.
Adam could have put his foot down and said, how dare you Eve? You know I told you, God said, we're not allowed to eat of that fruit. Do you realize what you've done? Now we've got to make everybody happy. We've got to compromise.
We've got to say, oh okay, okay, just to avoid all the stress and the conflict, just for peace sake, I will side with you and I'll eat the fruit with you. One of the biggest movements in the world today is known as the human rights movement. See, I have a right.
I have a right to do whatever I please, whenever I please. And if somebody restricts my rights, if somebody who is above me says, you're not allowed to do that, I get frustrated and I rise up in rebellion and I say, but I have a right. See, Eve could have said, I have a right to eat that fruit if I want to.
Sure she had a right. She had free will, yes. But she didn't have a right to do that because it was forbidden.
The human rights movements of this world today are trying to compromise and allow sin to reign. I have a right to follow my own gender orientation and my own sexual orientation. I have a right to live the way I want.
How dare you tell me what I'm allowed to do and what I'm not allowed to do. How dare you tell me what is right and what is wrong. Ultimately it's a rebellion against God because God set the order and God set his laws in motion.
The power of law brings destruction. When we tell people they're not allowed to do something, they want to do it. When we tell people they have to do something, they say, I don't feel like doing it.
They rebel against the law. What causes all of this? Your motivation. See, all human motivation is based on selfish desire.
Everyone wants their own needs met first. God's way is in other orientation. God's way is to please others first and not yourself.
God's way in the home is for the man to please his wife first. God's way in the home is for the wife to please her husband first. We see so much selfishness in all relationships and even in the most intimate relationship, the sexual relationship, it becomes a self-gratification.
I have a desire. I'm going to use you to fulfill my desire and God's order is always, let me fulfill your desire first following the scriptural principle that it's more blessed to give than it is to receive because in giving, we receive the blessing. And if you learn to apply these in even those relationships, you'll be amazed that when you let go of your own desires and please somebody else first, how the seed you sow begins to reproduce and comes back to you again.
You see, the key is not law but love. And the scripture says that love is the fulfilling of the law. And in Galatians chapter 5 where Paul lists the fruit of the spirit, he says against such there is no law.
The only way you can overcome this law that the Bible calls the law of sin and death and darkness is to bring the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus which is the law of love. Love is never selfish. The problem is how do we get it? Oh, it is so difficult to love the unlovely, isn't it? When somebody's nice to us, we find it easy to love them.
When somebody submits to us, we find it easy to love them. When somebody considers us first, oh, it's so easy to love them. And we rely on the feelings that we get.
See, but love is a commandment. Love is not something you feel. Love is something you do.
And it can only come from one source, the source of he who is love. See, love is the very attribute of God. Love is the very nature of God.
And when you allow God to rule in your life, love is a natural fruit and a natural result. That's why the scripture calls it the fruit of the spirit. That fruit of the spirit changes our attitude to others.
And when our attitude changes, it automatically leads to a change in attitude in them towards us. The important thing is that we realize we have to make a choice to love. So what kind of conflicts do you have with people right now? And have you been tempted to say, but I have a right.
I have a right to be treated correctly. I have a right to be respected. I have a right to be given freedom and to make a choice.
I have a right. If you're going to go that route, you're going to lose because your rights will continue to be violated by somebody out there. And if your happiness is dependent on people giving you your rights, you're not going to win.
You have to rise above that law. Apply the law of love. You have to come to the one who set everything in motion, who has the only force and the only power, the force of love, because the force of love will overcome.
Humans have tried to use the force of conflict and strife. They enter into wars to kill one another, to try and prove who's superior, to bring others into subservience under them. Because they have a right.
Jesus showed us the example when he gave up his rights for us. He showed us the ultimate spirit of love. And you can't do this by an act of your will.
You're not going to do it by gritting your teeth, by trying to say to yourself, when all you feel is hatred. It's not going to work. It's not going to work.
You have to come to the place where you realize there is only one source of love, and that's the Lord. But you must first make a choice that you're going to do this. You must first make a choice to say, I'm going to stop hating this person, I'm going to stop being angry, I'm going to stop being hurt, I'm going to stop being disappointed.
Oh, it's tough. When you've given your all, when you've given your best, and people still turn their back on you, people still spurn you and still reject you. I wrote a song many years ago which I entitled Unrequited Love.
And it portrays a person crying out and saying, I've given everything I have in sacrifice and people still turn against me. And the Lord responds and he says, I've been there many times, my beloved. I gave my life for you long ago.
And my heart yearns only for your love. But you turn your back, pretend you do not know. You do it that way all the time, but his love never changes.
His love continues to reach out to us until eventually it breaks down that barrier. See, love is light and life. And the only way you will overcome the darkness in this world is through the power of God's love.
The only way you will overcome the arrogance and the attacks from humans who want to put you down and hurt you is to repel them with that power, that shield of light that cannot penetrate. God designed us to enjoy one another and to live in harmony and happiness. The ultimate experience of happiness comes when we enjoy other people.
But we're going to have to let go of our own selfish desires. We're going to have to walk in the agape love of the Lord towards everyone. We're going to have to change our attitudes to those who are above us.
And we're going to have to change our attitudes to those who are below us also. When God's order is restored, ultimate happiness that is available to us in this world is going to become ours. How do we do it? By using the force of love.
It's the one force that Satan doesn't understand. It's the one force that dispels sin, that dispels darkness, that overcomes. It's a very powerful force.
Probably sometimes it's like the wind. You can't grasp it. You look at the wind and you say, there's no strength in the air.
I can put my hand through it. This air is not having any effect. But when that air becomes concentrated and begins to move and begins to build up speed, we have the whirlwinds and the hurricanes and the tornadoes that begin to form.
There's power there. There's power there, folks. You want to see God's power in your life.
You want to see change taking place. It's going to come when you begin to fan the wind of love. When you come to him and say, Lord, I can't do this.
I can't love this person. I'm Lord. Let your wind flow through me.
You begin to love them. Then you begin to act accordingly. You begin to speak accordingly.
You begin to treat the people around you accordingly. And you'll be amazed how things begin to change. You'll be amazed how people around you begin to see you differently, begin to respond to you differently.
They stop criticizing you and speaking behind your back and putting you down. They start saying, you know what, he's such an awesome guy. He really is.
And then they'll say, he's so full of the love of the Lord. They don't know the Lord. How are they going to know the Lord unless you manifest his nature and his nature is love.
So today, if you're having a problem with people and that applies to all of us, anybody not having a problem with people, please raise your hand and die because you're lying. All of our problems in life come with people. We have a tool, folks, that will help us to overcome this.
That tool will attack our true enemy. And your true enemy is not the person you're having a problem with. True enemy is the one who brought sin into this world.
Causes human nature to manifest that sin. That's what causes our problems. When we walk in the love of the Lord, we overcome that sin.
We overcome that evil force of Satan. And our life begins to change. I don't know about you, but the Lord's challenged me.
It's time I begin to use that love. This ministry was founded on that principle. And it's so easy to move away from it when we get disappointed in people.
So easy to get disappointed in people. As ministers, when we work so hard, we pour everything and people just respond negatively against us. They turn their back against us.
They reject. We pour our love towards them. Oh, the temptation is so strong.
You say, enough. Enough. I'm just going to take care of number one now.
I'm tired of giving out and giving out and giving out to everybody else. I'm going to take care of my own needs now. Oh, the temptation is so strong.
Don't listen to that whisper of the enemy. Don't listen to it, folks. It's a lie.
It's the very power that you have. That is why he's doing these things. That is why he's stirring people up against you to take away that force because he knows when that force is removed, he's got open territory.
He can attack and he can destroy. So let's get back into love. Let's let that force come out from us and as we combine it together as a group and let his love flow out, that powerful force, that powerful radiant light and that strong wind, we're going to destroy the works of darkness and we're going to change this world for him.
Amen. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus.
