As a human being, Peter automatically already held the first key in his hand which we all have. But as a member of the family of God he had a second key. And as an agent of God's blessing he held a third key. He was also given a key as a member of a new group of people.

Prophets and apostles are given an additional special key.

After Jesus arose, there were actually more keys that became available and that weren't there before. The Bible says that He arose and said,

"I have the keys of death and hades."

He was given a new key of authority, and in Matthew 8:18 it says,

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, every kind of authority has been delegated to me in heaven and upon the earth.

Your Keys

He passed this authority now to every single believer. Do you realize that as a believer you hold a keyring that is full of keys?

In His name we have authority in heaven, in earth, and in the realm of darkness. In case you don't believe me, let me share Philippians 2:10 which says,

So that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, those who are in heaven, those who are on the earth, those who are in the world below [the realm of the dead];

God does delegate special authority to the Ministry Offices. In the Old Testament the prophets were given a special key of the kingdom.

This was where God showed them what He wanted to do. They authorized that through prophetic decree, and it would help God to make things happen in the earth.

Probably the first and greatest prophet who arose was a man by the name of Moses. Moses was the first human being to actually enter into the heavenly realm where he fellowshipped with God directly. Then from there he brought back God's words into the earth.

In the New Testament, prophets can have two different kinds of keys. They can have a golden key which they use to release God's blessing in the spiritual life. And they can have a silver key, by which they release God's blessing into the secular life and business.

The other Fivefold Ministries also all have different keys and each one carries authority in a different realm.

Binding and Loosing

So as a summary of what we have looked at, whatever God does in the earth He does in partnership with human beings. As a believer you have been given some keys of the kingdom. That means that you can decide what happens in the earth.

The blessing of God lies in your hands. You can release it or loose it, which is the other term that is used in Scripture. And when you do that, all of heaven is behind you to back you.

You can also bind it or block it. And when you do that God will not stop you. If that is what you want, God will honor your desire because He has given you that freedom to choose.

Curses from Satan also lie in your hands. You can release or permit the authority of Satan and his demons in the earth. And when you do that heaven will not stop you. God will back your right to do that because your will is free.

When Adam and Eve sinned, God did not stop them. God could have stopped them from sinning. He could have jumped in there quickly as Eve was about to take of the fruit and say,

"Oh no, don't do it!"

But God gave them that liberty.

As a believer you can also bind and block demon powers. You have that authority in the name of Jesus, and when you use it, all of heaven will back you.

That is what is meant by the expression what you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. What you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

From the heavenly realm God will back you all the way in whichever choice you make.

God wants to bless you as a believer. He has offered you an open door now to His realm. And as we saw in the first section, you can get access to those blessings by reaching up with the arm of faith.

Blessing Others

You can also access His blessings on behalf of others and can become God's agent for blessing. You can do this through intercessory prayer, where you bring other peoples' needs to Him.

You can do it by telling the good news and telling people the truth. But most of us are caught in the idea that God is sovereign. People say,

"God will do what He wants to do, and there is not terribly much I can do except to beg Him. And maybe, if He favors me, He may give me what I ask for."

We even have the idea that if we can get enough people to beg Him and nag Him at the same time, He is more likely to do it.

Have you ever had this happen to you? You pray and ask God for something, then you wait for something to happen. You wait and you wait, and eventually you come to the conclusion,

"I guess he said no."

Some people say, "God always answers prayer. Sometimes He says yes and sometimes He says no."

But that is not based on the Scriptures at all. If you pray in faith, you release into the earth the thing that you desire. You take it by the arm of faith. But the answer can get blocked by the enemy.

God has said yes He has sent the answer. But somewhere along the way it has been hijacked by Satan and his hordes.

You might say, "I wish God would just bind the devil now and stop him from stealing my goods."

Sorry, but that authority lies in your hands. Whatever you bind on earth happens. You can't bind what is in heaven. That is God's realm. But you can loose and you can bind in this earth.

It is up to you to block Satan and stop him from stealing your blessing. And it's up to you to release the blessing that God has given you.

You could wait from now until kingdom come and you will never see it, because you are waiting for God to do something that He has placed in your hands.

Perhaps you have been seeking God for something and you have been waiting. I have heard people saying,

"I believed the Lord for 20 years before He gave me what I asked for."

Nonsense. You weren't believing; you were just hoping. You need to use the authority and you need to use your keys.

Do Not Neglect Them

Get into the habit of using your keys every day. When I go out, I carry with me the keys to the car and the house. I have a whole keyring there with all my main keys on it. And you know if I can't find my keys there is a panic. I think,

"Oh Lord, where did I put them? We can't go out now because I don't know where the car keys are."

Then when we get home I can't open the front door, because what did I do with the keys while we were out?

Believers are so guilty of neglecting their keys. They think,

"What happened to my keys?"

They are actually right there, but you never paid attention to them did you?

Do you know where your keys are? Are you using them daily, or are you just leaving it up to someone else?

Let me give you some bad news and some good news here. There is always someone who has a plan for you; either the Lord or the devil.

Let me ask you a silly question now. Whose plan would you prefer? You might say to me,

"Of course I prefer God's plan!"

Then why aren't you using your keys to release God's plan into the earth? As a believer you have the keys to the doors of blessing and of cursing, and how you use them is going to determine your future.

My Prayer

"Thank you Father for your word. I pray that it went out clearly and reached the hearts of your people. Also that they are challenged afresh to use what you have given them."

I would like to pray for you now because you have been struggling. You have been crying out to the Lord and you are not seeing an answer to your prayers. You have been wondering,

"What is wrong with me? Lord why don't you want to answer my prayers?

Let me ask you a question. Have you used your keys? Perhaps you are saying,

"Keys; what keys?"

You could have got away with that one before. But after reading this section you can't do that anymore, because I have told you now what your keys are. I have also told you how to use those keys.

Don't you think it is time to go and find those keys? When I lose my keys I search the whole house. I search under every rock and stone as it were until I find them.

I want to challenge you now to do the same thing. Say,

"Lord, forgive me for not using what you gave me. Forgive me Lord for blaming you for not answering my prayers when the fault lay with me all along."

Perhaps you have a great desire to release God's blessing to others. There are keys for that as well. If you have been trained for ministry, you have been given some keys. And especially as a prophet you have been given one or two keys. Are you using them?

You might say, "I finally made it! I am in Prophetic Office and I'm going to use the title prophet from now on."

What are you doing with your keys? You are not there to prophesy over people and tell them their fortunes. You are there to use the key to unlock the blessing of God in their lives.

So many prophets don't even know what to do with their key. But you know what to do with keys in the natural. Start using your keys in the spiritual now as well.

Using the Keys Practically

I want you to do that right now. I want you to think of that thing that you have been asking the Lord for, and I want you to do two things.

Firstly I want you to use the keys of the kingdom to unlock and release from the heavenly realm. You do that partly with the arm of faith. Reach out and pull it in.

Then I want you to use your keys to block and to bind the forces of evil that are trying to prevent it from coming to you.

Satan has a lot of agents in this world who will obey him. He has a lot of people who will try and stop what God has given you. But you can bind those demon forces in the name of Jesus and you can prevent them from stealing your blessing.

Perhaps your blessing is financial. You have asked God for provision and God says the provision is on the way. You are however still waiting for it to arrive.

I am afraid there is something you have to do. You have to work as a partner with God in this. It is not a one-sided thing. You are a partner with Him. And if you will do your part, He will do His part, and together you are going to see the results.

I have heard people using this excuse. They say,

"I am too weak. I need a Savior; someone who will carry me through and do it all for me."

He has done it all already. He has done all He needs to do. He has paid the price on Calvary, and has won back for you the right to open the door to that heavenly realm and to receive everything that you not only need but also desire.

If you can't be bothered to make the effort to use the authority that He has given you, don't get bitter against God and blame Him. He has done His part and He is waiting for you to do your part now.

Begin to do this on a daily basis. Put His Word in your mouth and speak it into the earth. Take the keys of authority that He has given you, and block and lock out the power of darkness and open the door wide in the spiritual realm.

If you do this daily, it won't be long and you will start to see the manifestation of all those good things that you have asked of the Lord and that you are desiring. Then you will finally come to live what Jesus called the abundant life.

It is for you. God doesn't have favorites. So why don't you reach out and take it, and start living that life now, in Jesus' name? Amen.
