Way of Blessing Part 1 - Discovering Your Blessing
By: Les D. Crause
Chapter 17 of 26Chapter 17 - How To Use The Word
Corinthians 1:20 says this: For all the promises of God in him (that is in Christ) [are] yes, and in him so be it, to the glory of God through us.Do not forget the 'through us' part. What does He mean here when He says, "The promises of God in Him are yes."
It means that you can come to Him and say, "God I see in your Word that you have promised me this."
When you do this, God is not going to say, "Yes, well actually today that doesn't apply. It applied to the early disciples and to the Old Testament prophets. Sorry, for you that promise does not apply."
God will never say no when you come to ask Him to fulfill His promise.
He is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and will He not make it good?
That is what the Scripture says. The answer is, "Yes, that He may be glorified through us."
That is how He is going to fulfill His promise. He is going to do it through you, through your spirit, through His Holy Spirit working in and through you. This is because,
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
You Release the Power
What God does in this world He does through a human vessel, because He made man a spirit living in a body made from the elements of the earth.
That is the only creature that has authority in this world and God will not violate that authority. He will work in and through your spirit, through your soul and through your body, and He will release His power into the earth.
When God sends forth His Word into the earth He is not going to send it out from up there. Isaiah 55:11 says: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish what I desire, and it shall succeed [in the thing] for which I sent it.
I used to pray and say, "Oh Lord, send your Word into the earth on my behalf. Lord speak a decree. Speak a Word for me for my provision and for my needs to be met."
Then I stood there waiting for Him to speak His Words, but it did not come. I said, "Lord, why don't you speak your Word?"
He said, "I don't have a human mouth. If my Word is to go into the earth I need human lips to speak it."
The prophet stood and said, Unto us a Child is born, and unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder.
He spoke of the coming of Christ. What was he doing? He was speaking God's Word into the earth. He was releasing the power of the Spirit.
We will look at that more when we consider how to release spiritual energy using the template.
Role of the Prophetic Ministry
There are other ways that you can know the will of God. Because you see sometimes the Scripture is not totally clear on the exact details of your circumstances.
Although you can find a general principle of the will of God from the Word, perhaps there are diversities in your circumstances that you need to know a bit more about. God has given the prophetic ministry to give confirmation.
In the Old Testament people could not hear from God. They had to go to the prophet and say, "Prophet (seer), please hear from God. See what God shows you and you tell me what God says about me."
But in the New Testament the Spirit of God dwells inside each one of us. The Spirit of God is in you and He can speak through you.
So as it rises up in your spirit, and you feel God is telling you something, He will give you confirmation through a prophet that He has raised up.
He will use somebody else and speak a prophetic word through them. It will confirm to your heart something that you suspected already but were not sure of.
The Urim and Thummim
God has also given you a spiritual Urim and Thummim. That is a separate study but I will mention it very quickly.
In the Old Testament there was a way that people could tell whether God was going to answer them with a yes or a no. It was called the Urim and Thummim.
The Bible does not tell us much about it, but it had to do with two stones that were either in the priest's ephod - the part that covered him - or it was in a little pouch on the side.
The idea was you would come to God and say, "God, shall I marry John?" God would say, "Yes," or "No."
"Lord, should I move to Mexico?" God would respond and say, "Yes," or "No."
One of the theories was that the two stones would glow. If the Urim glowed, God was saying, "Yes," and if the Thummim glowed, God was saying, "No."
Another theory was that the priest would put his hand into the pouch where the two stones were and would pull a stone out. If he pulled out the Urim God was saying, "Yes." If he pulled out the Thummim He was saying, "No."
God has given us a spiritual Urim and Thummim. It has been called 'the peace of God', or a 'gut feel'. It is something deep inside of you that says, "Yeah, yeah," or "No."
You can feel a go-ahead or a check in your spirit. It is a spiritual Urim and Thummim. It gives you confirmation as to whether you are going in the right direction or not.
There are also other sources of revelation. God can speak to you in dreams and visions. Although this is largely the domain of the prophet, it is possible for anyone to see visions, and of course we all dream.
It is possible for you to often hear what God is saying to you by interpreting your dreams. For more information on this I recommend that you read my book entitled 'Prophetic Visions and Dreams'.
Meditate on the Word
As you come to create by your spirit, to release the power of God, you need to see it in your mind. You need to feel it in your emotions and you need to act on it. But how do you do it?
Firstly, start to meditate on the promises. You will build a whole new template now.
You will not build it out of the experiences of life or the philosophies of the world. You won't build it out of the lies of Satan or everybody else's ideas. You will build it from the very Word of God that is your pattern.
If you want templates the Word is full of them. Start to find a few of them and make some of your own. Meditate on the promises of God and build a picture.
How do you meditate? You do it firstly by taking the words that are in the Bible and changing them into pictures.
When God says, By His stripes you are healed, you should be seeing yourself well and strong. That includes weight too.
How about being thin and muscular? You could really push that one couldn't you?
What about being attractive? If you were born ugly, well who knows, it could happen. There are obviously limits. But as you meditate on what God says in His Word you build a positive picture into your heart.
Speaking the Word
Meditation also involves muttering to yourself. It involves taking the Word and beating yourself with it. It is like when you put clothes in the washing machine. The machine turns, and keeps beating the clothes, until all the dirt comes out of them.
If you want to get rid of all the dirt that has been fed into your heart, then meditate on the Word.
The Word will start to beat it all out. It will start to sink in, and when it starts to go in it will begin to throw out all the junk that you have built up over the years.
Out will come all the garbage you have seen on television, all the rubbish you have read in the worldly magazines, and all the nonsense that you have heard people talking.
Get the Word in there. Program it, meditate it, think it, mutter it, speak it, talk it, live it and eat it. Fill yourself with it. After a while it will start coming out again.
There is a passage in Proverbs where Solomon says, "If you bind it on your heart it will watch over you when you sleep. It will keep you when you walk, and when you wake up it will start talking to you."
In other words, if you keep putting it in, it will start coming out. One day you will wake up with a Scripture on your heart that says, "By His stripes I am healed."
You will think, "Bless God, I don't have to be sick anymore."
The Word will just come pouring out and you will say, "My God provides all my needs. Then why am I battling like this?"
It comes out and begins to pour forth, and a new template begins to be formed.
Someone says to you, "So how are you feeling today?"
You might say, "Oh, not so good." No, that is wrong.
"So how are you feeling today?'
You should be saying, "It doesn't matter, I believe I'm blessed. I believe the Word of God. God says I'm blessed so I don't care how I feel.
I'm happy and healthy. Glory to God, the power of God is on me. You know what? I have been abundantly blessed with every blessing in spiritual places in the heavenly realm. God has blessed me."
Those are the words that now begin to come out of your mouth. The template begins to change, and you begin to speak God's Word now as an accomplished fact.
You start to call the things that are not as though they were. You begin to realize that God has blessed you (past tense) with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places.
Someone can now say to you, "So how are you today?" "Well I was healed."
"So how are things going with your finances?" "I was provided for abundantly."
"When?" "Oh about 2 000 years ago."
You begin to walk around and say, "Father I thank you that you have provided my needs. I thank you Lord that the bills are paid. I thank you that there is sufficient finance to meet every eventuality that comes my way.
I thank you Father that you have given me the physical strength to do my work effectively. I thank you that in Christ you have given me all the wisdom I need to work efficiently in this world; to do everything that comes my way effectively, efficiently, abundantly and to the best of my ability."
Using the Correct Template
It begins to change you. You begin to speak positively. You begin to form that new template, new picture and pattern.
Now you have something to give to the Spirit. You have a pattern and you can say, "This is what I want you to create. Lord, this is what I give to you now; a heart that is full and ready for you to pour out your power in blessing to others."
All you need to do now is to charge up the power, and charge it up again until it is ready to explode. Then all you do is pull the trigger.
When you do that off it goes. It will be just like when God hovered over the creation, when He spoke forth the Word and said, "Let there be..." (and it was).
It will no longer be a case of saying, "Oh Lord, you see how we are battling. Please help us Lord! Lord, you know I serve you.
You know I go to church regularly. I read my Bible every day and I pay my tithes. Oh Lord I've served you to the utmost capacity. Please, have mercy on me."
I think the Lord just walks away sometimes. He cannot bear it.
He says, "I have given it to you already. What are you wailing about?"
You are giving Him the wrong template to work with. Learn to build a template that is based on His Word. And when you give it to Him, it will be as simple a case as, "Let there be..."
It will come into being instantly, immediately and without any hesitation.
It is the power of the Spirit. The same force that created this world will be working upon you, through you and into your circumstances. And it will create the very thing that you have desired from the Lord.
In the next section we will look at how we can charge up that power. I will show you how you actually release it to go forth and cause that creation to take place.
