Chapter 7 - Using Words And Actions

Peter and John were at the Beautiful Gate, walking into the Temple for the afternoon prayer, and a crippled man said to them, "Please can you give me some money?"

Peter spoke to him and said, "Look at us."

Then he spoke his faith into action and said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I'm giving to you. In the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk."

Peter didn't just leave it there. He grabbed the guy by the hand and pulled him up.

The same thing could have happened. What would have happened if his legs didn't get healed and he dropped again and fell to the ground? Everyone would have said, "Yeah sure, big talk. In the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk."

But I want to tell you something. Both of those things had to be done before healing could take place. There had to be speech and there had to be action.

Now what would happen if faith was only spoken?

You say, "Well I believe the Lord is going to provide our needs this month."

"Well God is providing. I believe He is going to give enough money this month to get a few more servers on the Internet and to get the whole thing going."

Okay big deal, put your money where your mouth is. How about putting it into action? How about starting to do a few things because you know that it is going to happen?

Personal Testimony

I will never forget the time when I packed up my job and I waited on the Lord.

We were two months in arrears with our rent and they were ready to kick me out. I walked the floor and I said, "In the name of Jesus I have received the money I need. I put my foot on it now. It's mine in Jesus' name."

I walked up and down speaking it and the Lord said to me, "Do you believe it?" I said, "Yes Lord. I believe it."

He said, "Then act on it." I said, "Lord, what do you mean?"

He said, "Go and tell the Estate Agent that you're getting the money."

I went to go and see the Estate Agent. I walked in there and waited for him to have a chance to see me. Then when he called me into his office I sat down and said, "We are in arrears with our rent. We're in the second month now."

He said, "Yes, I was about to contact you. You are going to have to do something smartly or I am going to have to kick you out."

I said, "Listen, I have a very large amount of money that is coming shortly. And when it comes I will pay you the two months arrears, plus the next month's rent as well. Then we'll be completely caught up to date. Please just give me slightly longer. It'll come any day now."

He looked at me and said, "Okay sure. If you're getting the money I will give you a little bit longer. No problem."

Then we walked out of there and I said, "Glory, we've got the money. But Lord, where is the money coming from?"

We had been living for months with nothing. I had no income, no job, no church and nobody who cared. We were in a bad way - but that is when it came. You have to put your faith into action.

I remember hearing a preacher say once, "Faith is stepping out onto nothing but the Word of God."

Start Speaking and Acting

There has to be action and there has to be words. You must speak out faith and confess it.

Sometimes the Lord will lead you to step out into the unknown. This could lead to difficulties such as a loss of income. You don't know where your next money is coming from.

It doesn't matter, as long as the faith is there. You have spoken it and declared it. You have confessed it and believed the Word of God, and now you've put it into action. Now you wait, expect and continue to plan and continue to work as though it's complete.

Every problem that comes up from now on, and every difficult situation that you face, this is the way you will face it. You're going to speak. What will you say?

"Oh Lord what are we going to do? We spent all the money. We don't even have money for our basic necessities anymore. I don't know what we're going to do this month."

No, this will not release your faith, and the Lord can't help you.

If you want to walk in faith and talk in faith, you must put action to it. Start acting as though you believe what God has told you. Act like you believe what YOU are saying.

Then there is nothing in the world that can stop the manifestation of what you have spoken forth and acted upon in faith.
